1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

So I thought I fancy a pistol went to my local dealer! Want to kill rats at close quarters so they advised the 2240 and under £80 I thought bargain! So I got home and was fairly accurate and under the advice of people on here bought the holographic sight (how cool are they!!!!), and the mounting blocks, and an adapter for a silencer to which the bsa muzzle break fits and looks fairly good! So now it shoots more accurate than I thought I ever would with a pistol and looks the part! Now I want a stock! And a metal breech, and brass blingy trigger and beech grips! Will it ever end??? I don't think I will ever leave the house again I'm addicted to shooting and modifying this pistol!

No. At the risk of kicking off another debate, IMO the only legitimate use for such an airpistol with regard to killing stuff is for dispatching stuff in traps. Totally inhumane for anything else IMO - try consistantly hitting something the size of a 5p (kill-zone on a rat's head) at anything more than a few feet with a pistol..

A far more appropriate tool would be a 2250b or the new 2250xl - stick to inanimate targets with the pistol ;)

Once wiped out scores of mice in a garden shed with a webley premier, the .22 pellets totally destroyed them I've been shooting my 2240 with open sites today in the garden at 14 yards and the accuracy I'm getting is streets ahead of my hw45 I used to own, pellets gone straight through both sides of a bean can, if I saw a rat at that range I wouldn't hesitate.

That's the good thing about women, they don't look or take notice of stuff they don't like! Even when it's shiny and oh so awesome!!

You are ok yet, it gets much worse, thanks for reminding me Jolo ;)

Eventually you run out of available mods and have to get them specially made like I did with my Scaramanga gun:

Are you suggesting the power of the pistol is inhumane? Or the potential bad shot of the shooter?

As for the power side, I can assure myself at least that my 2240 at full pistol power under 10 metres made rat heads into mush. I'm a decent shot though, and only went for the head on rats scoffing my peanut butter bait.

Would i trust myself to nail a rat with a standard open sight pistol? Yep. I know my limits, 5 metre open sight to be sure, 10 with a scope.

With arifle its a little different though!

I have to agree on the points of being a good shot. I have shot rats with my 2240, never moded it though. I did how ever sell it and get myself a CP88 Competition and well Rats are so not safe at 10 meters open site with that one lol.

Yeah I now have laser on order to mount to the co tube the stock comes next month then I'll be finished! Hahahaha yeah right! Luckily the wife is into air guns too so as long as I don't go too daft she won't complain!

i seem to be pretty accurate with it and the barn where I will be shooting is small so less than 10 metres! I don't think it'll be a problem but I won't be ratting with it till I'm comfortable!

Neither do I mate, I got someone to make me the parts. Mr John Small made these parts.

Seriously though once you go so far you end up selling your old parts and getting some of your money back.

Unless like me you just keep on building more till no more fit in my room then I sell all of them then start again.

Any hunter will tell you that a pistol is for plinking, target shooting or the dispatch of a wounded target initially shot by your rifle. I too shoot target/plink with a C2240 pistol and would never, ever use it as a primary hunting weapon BUT only at very close distance (inches) to finally dispatch as severely wounded vermin target that had not been shot accurately enough to ensure a clean kill with my rifles. That miss may have been poor target aquisition, wind, prey movement or lack of skill but for whatever reason that would be the only time a pistol would or should be used for verimin control.
The 2250 Ratbuster however is an entirely different matter and because it is closely related to the 2240 its accuracy over distance is very much more so and it was designed to kill rats. I suggest that you seek out one of them because an injured rat is a very bad savage biter into whatever it can get its filthy disease ridden razor sharp teeth into. Don't think they are frightened of you either....your size means nothing to them at all. Funnilly I have yet to see one as 'big as a cat'............and hope I never do:rolleyes:
