1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    BBC News wrote:
The impacts of global warming are likely to be "severe, pervasive and irreversible", a major report by the UN has warned.

Scientists and officials meeting in Japan say the document is the most comprehensive assessment to date of the impacts of climate change on the world.

Members of the UN's climate panel say it provides overwhelming evidence of the scale of these effects.

Natural systems now bear the brunt, but a growing impact on humans is feared.

Our health, homes, food and safety are all likely to be threatened by rising temperatures, the summary says.

It's not scaremongering at all. Haven't you noticed the change in the past 20 odd years? Summers are getting hotter and Winters are getting wetter. Exactly what they predicted 20 odd years ago.

How many times has the planet been through climate change already............nature's a marvellous healer.

"The origin of these climatic trends... is a difficult subject: by long tradition the happy hunting ground for robust speculation, it suffers because so few can separate fact from fancy."

That depends on where you live. We have had a reasonably dry winter this year and as for last summer, do you mean the two weeks of sunshine we got in June?

I'm with barca on this one the evidence of freak weather has been staring us all in the face for years now, how many times have we seen floods hitting the news recently both here and abroad. It's a matter of time before we are washed away.

Whilst I agree that climate change is real, I'm not convinced it is man made and not a cyclical natural occurrence that governments are using as a cash cow by taxing under the guise of environmentalism.

I think its really difficult to seperate natural underlying long term environmental cycles (three years as a geology student is quite an eye opener) and some very obvious damage that we are doing. This means even if we take radical action it might not result in preventing changes from happening. However this isnt a reason not to deal with our reliance on fossil fuels as they wont last forever even if it was to be shown they weren't the main cause. Clean energy - yes; renewable energy - even more important to any long-term political stability.
Sorry - a bit too deep a post for me:D

I agree we need to do something but as soon as one of these things is suggested everyone screams "Not on our doorstep".

Yawn! Al gore predicted in his film that by now the polar icecaps would have melted and we would all be doomed, in reality they have seen the biggest growth since records began and increased their mass by over 60% , first it was called global warming then man made climate change and there is still no evidence other than " mathematical models" provided by scientists who can't accurately predict the weather next Tuesday let alone in 50 years , any moron can see the climate is changing, that's what it does and always has done , but to try and make people believe it's caused by mankind is where the issues occur.......but don't worry, there's money being made so its profitable to continue the illusion

"Climate change will kill us all...."

IMHO the chances of that are starkly remote. I believe that mankind will ultimately be responsible for its own end due to lack of resource and the fall of western democracy into a hellish world of survival of the fittest and/or boldest. The chances of mankind having to deal with that very real possibility is much closer in our timeline than any danger from the effects of a 1-2 degree temperature rise.

Secondly, I also believe that the climate change mandate is not about climate change and rising temperatures. Those are symptoms of an evolving planet going through its natural cycle and anyone arrogant enough to believe that us mere mortals can affect that in a way that threatens the planet is seriously deluded.

A more real reason for the climate mandate is one of reducing energy reserves. Climate change is used as a scare tactic to get us to opt for expensive "green" alternatives. This does two things. First it generates lots of lovely cash for the tier 1's in our world so they can continue to have comfy lives when the rest of the world does turn to pooh and second, it encourages us to use less energy which we know is at this point in time a fairly limited resource.

So, what am I more afraid of? Bit more rain and hot summers and lack of water possibly or not being able to cook food, drive a car to work, use the internet for my business, put food on the table for my family....

I reckon there is a conspiracy about climate change but it is not about how its caused and whether or not it is us, it is about its real agenda which is to fund the top tier whilst conserving energy reserves because world leaders are too scared to think of what would happen if the real truth about how long we can all keep using energy at out current rate was to become public before a realistic alternative is found.

In either case I am thinking of having my tombstone carved with:

"Here lies Soximus 1966 -20?? and if you are reading this and below the age of 30 then all I can say is Good Luck! you will need it"

So if its irreversible why are we all still paying taxes and for what purpose? Answer me that political conmen?

Climate change is cyclical - that is undeniable. What caused it ... mostly the sun, but what man has done is reduce the capacity of the planet to deal with it.

Anyway dodgy weather is the least of the planets problems. Increased population, lack of food and fuel, uncontrolled migration will only go to feed war-mongering as these things get worse and worse. We'll kill ourselves before the weather does.

    On a positive note... errr...

The scientists must be right ? Has earth not evolved ,changed from a planet mostly covered in water ,through several ice ages to extreme temperature rise tropical conditions. I'm no expert but me thinks the planets have cycles too .
Not all scientists feel it's down to global warming from environmental pollution caused by humans.
I'm not saying we shouldn't care for our environment,be sensible with energy but I don't buy this we caused it all.
