90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

    Today I felt Christmassy.

The feeling came on as I put the turkeys in their coop that I had collected this afternoon. I could hear Wizard singing in my head as I dropped them in.

Last year was the first time I had done turkeys and I have to say they were pretty easy to keep. They have voracious appetites and smash through feed at a rate of knots once they get big. Did 15 turkeys last Christmas but this year we are doing 20 and Andy, my butcher mate, is doing 4 of his own.

Don’t need to wait until Christmas for some home grown poultry products as my Indian Game chickens are just about ready for finishing now.

Much prefer a good goose to a turkey. Not as much meat but very tasty. :thumb:

Is there a temporary ban enforceable for forum members mentioning the ' C ' word in August?

Wasn’t goose replaced with turkey during the Victorian era?

If I started hearing that piggin' Wizard song in my head at any time, I'd happily let my missus knock me cold with the back of a shovel.

I have tinnitus and the perpetual high-pitched screeching is preferable to Roy Wood and his seasonal racket. That row and Slade......

Do you turn them from 'field to fork' at home with a knife? Or is there another preferred method?
I'd be tempted to grow a few on some year

Surely "THE" one and only true Xmas song is Kirsty McColl (Fairytale of New York) or possibly Slade, deffo not Wizard...!

The turkeys are killed, plucked and prepped by me on site. They are headshot at point blank range, inverted and throats cut. No transport or rough handling to a slaughter house and a quick, painless death at the hands of someone they are familiar with.

I recommend it, you will have no problem shifting them. In fact I got messages on Christmas Day from happy punters ordering one for next year. Do it, do it, do it!

Now WIZARD is going on in my head too - it was always the finale 'take a bow' number at the end of an annual Christmas panto' our girls used to be in...

Would Sir like some nice Cranberry sauce with his plasterboard? :D

Only once in my life have I had turkey that was succulent and delicious, sadly the man that cooked it is no longer with us.

The finest way to cook a turkey is meant to be deep fat frying. Have you seen the videos? It’s terrifying and some of the videos of it going wrong are horrendous, you think a chip pan fire is bad?
