1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I've decided I'll treat myself to a AA TX200HC .177 with Walnut stock as a Christmas present, after reading and watching a lot of reviews it seems a perfect rifle for target shooting and maybe some hunting.

I'm thinking of ordering from www.pellpax.co.uk, has anyone dealt with this company before?

Which Hawke scope and pellets would go well with this rifle, any suggestions? It's mainly going to be used for target shooting indoors/outdoors and maybe some small quarry hunting.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

I would go to my local gun shop they will have one or will be able to order you one. Pellpax did have problems in the past.
If your rifle develops a fault or goes overpower your local gun shop can help you a lot better the a mail order company can. It's always worth building up that relationship.
As for scope the panoramas are very popular.
    Cheers Andy

There have been quite a few problems with Pellpax, some quite recently. They seem to have a habit of going bust from what I read and have left a lot of people (suppliers and customers) out of pocket. I would buy locally if possible and I would be prepared to pay a little extra for dealing with someone who will be there if I needed to go back for any reason or advice.
I'm sure that someone with more up to date and comprehensive knowledge of Pellpax will be able to add more information later.

As above - if you do an advanced forum search for Pellpax (and select topics only as the search filter) you'll get a better insight as to why I'd be wary re who I purchased from.

This is purely my personal viewpoint based on the experience of other forum members and absolutely nothing to do with the views of the forum.

Well after doing as you suggested and reading a few posts I don't think I'll be buying from Pellpax! Too many people have had problems with them for my liking, I work too hard for my money to hand it over to a dealer like that.

Has anyone had any experience with the dealers around Bristol/Gloucester? From what I can see there isn't a huge choice around these parts... I would definitely prefer to buy locally I suppose at least then I can build a relationship with them and if there's any issues I can get back to them easily.

I would look on this forum, you have already been offered a TX from a member?, my experiences on this site, are I would rather trust someone on here than a profit orientated shop, also, I am sure you would source one at a much more tempting price...;)

Give Newavon Arms in the Loadway in Pill just off the M5 a try. I bought a new Scorpion SE from them and they seemed very helpful and have been told that the after sales there is good.

Good choice of rifle, I have one of these with a beech stock. Mine was my main hunting rifle before I got a PCP, they're deadly accurate, and also nice and short - I've used mine from the car whilst lamping, to good effect. I have a Hawke Airmax EV 3-9x40AO on mine, it's a great scope for general hunting use and not so bad for the range either, plus they're very reasonably priced and good glass at that price range. On the range, sometimes a finer reticle can come in handy, in which case you won't go far wrong with a Hawke Panorama - I have one in 3-9x40 with AO on my Ultra, it's a fantastic scope for the money. :)

Thanks for the help everyone :)

I've been chatting with slappy to see if there's a deal to be done, if not I'll pay Newavon Arms a visit after Christmas.

To OP - Look on the forum, calculate your expenditure then contact a seller with good feedback. Mate, you'll get more bang-per-buck buying 2nd hand than you would buying 1st. Most of the time you'll get a full setup with scope and all the goodies for the money you'd have paid a dealership.
