1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

[IMG][IMG]while out yesterday thought I,d do a small experiment.for as long as I can remember I,ve used jsb,s or air arms pellets(there the same)when I came on the forum I had never shot a 177 in all my life.so went and got one.it was a s400 f and after getting it tried 3 pellets in it accupels superdomes and of course jsb.the jsb,s were way better than the other 2.so 3 wks ago bought a ultimate sporterand from day one just used jsbdiablo 8.44grns and was happy with them.at the forum meet they had a load of h&n pellets there cheap(money going towards our armed forces boys was a good enough reason to buy some)so after shooting yesterday ithought id give them a go in the new gun.it was pretty windy so I drove down the silo and shot down one of the sides to get out of the wind as much as I could.all shots were prone off a bipod at 37 yds(length of side wall).numbers 1/2/3/4 I used jsb,s and was happy enough with the results(im far from the worlds best shot).so I put the gun back up to 160 bar(same as before I started).so filled 2 mags with h&nfield trophy target same posision and done 3

Are they the same? I know they are both made by JSB but understood there were differences, though probably not a lot. The pellet database here: http://www.photosbykev.com/wordpress/2009/01/20/air-rifle-pellet-database/ ( thanks to Monster for that link )
shows slight measurement differences yet the same weight and BC.

Hi Andy coincidence you put this post up, me and Deak have been shooting JSBs and AAs for ages and been very happy with them, yesterday we shot the coarse using H&N FTTs they were amazing, conditions were cr@p, Deak shot a 54 with his Airwolf I had a 56 with the 100, this was good for us two, especially as they had dropped in a couple real traps.
I got my HFT500 about the same time you got your Ultimate, so I'm gonna give them a good go in the 500 Wednesday at the Greyhound, let you know how there fair up, atb Steve.

I often wonder whether these manufacturers do use a certain set of dies for other companies . JSB/air arms, H&NFTT/ weihrauch F&T special , Bisley magnum/ Baracuda match Crossman premier/webley accupell etc ? some people think so .

Hi Steve , what I was meaning to say is do JSB , for instance, have particular dies that they only use to make air arms pellets ?

As Chevin said, we had a great time with them on Sunday. I'm gonna try my HW100 with them and some Baracuda match. The sizes are a little strange though. 4.50 is equal to 4.52 JSb, AA etc and their 4.51 is equal to 4.53 JSB,AA etc.
These H&N pellets look so clean and are super shiny.

sorry mate, read it wrong. re your question, yes they do. as for h&n, they make the bisley magnums on their older and worn dies that had previously made their own bararacuda match (thats why, generally, the bisley magnums look a little rougher and do not hold such a tight tolerance in size). the good thing about h&n pellets are that they use a different lead alloy, and a different lube is used in the manufacturing process.
some manufacturers use the same dies, for different brands, but then sort them for size and quality, before packaging and badging them up, and sort/keep the best ones for their own brand.
in reality, theres probably less than 10 manufacturers in the world making all the worlds pellets

I am trying to do some 177 pellet tests but the weather has not been kind the last couple of Sundays. I noticed with my last batch of JSB exacts that the weight varied from 8.21 to 8.9 grains and I was getting a few unexplained flyers.. I purchase a Pelletgage ( stainless steel plate laser cut with holes in increments of 0.01 mm ) and found the head sizes to vary as well. I sorted out a batch of 4.52 8.4gn pellets and shot them at a 40 yard target. I managed to get a couple of 3/4 inch ( 1 UK penny ) groups with no flyers :).

I am now going to test some other makes and see what the variation is.

they claim that they dont use purely lead they use an alloy with a percentage of another metal in with it . its suppose to make the surface less pitted and that means less drag or something (probably a load of old tosh but ive never seen pellets that shiny before)
