1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

I think that the lead (with 1 red, 1 black wire) is for operating ir leds but you don't need it. When you say 'no picture' do you get anything at all or does the screen remain black? If the iris is not open or the lens focussed properly you won't get an image. To check this, depending on what adjustments you have on the lens,
set the zoom to close (lower number)
set the iris to wide open (lower number)
set the focus to about half way
this should give a picture of some sort and then you can make adjustments as required.

Thanks terry I'll have a go at that later when my stress levels calm down! I'm beginning to think I have broken something while taking the ir filter off but didn't slip with the Stanley knife as far as I could tell! Wish I could have bought the camera you advised in the first place! May have to cut my losses and call an early birthday present in!

    thanks

No gaz I'm still at a loss with this pal! I'm sure it's something simple but I just can't get a picture! Can get the camera menu up still and what I would describe as the static you used to get when tuning old TVs but that's it

Change the BNC to phono connector for another, they are notoriously unreliable, from a bag of 10 I bought only 3 worked for me.

Have you tried the above yet or what about plugging it into your TV or something. Try and isolate the fault.

i have got a new connector, tried every menu option on there I can get a fuzzy screen but no picture I took the ir cut filter out as per various youtube videos, it was a piece of glass behind the lens that was glued in, this took some getting out but honestly don't think I broke anything! maybe I took the wrong thing out? I am really at a loss now, I didn't expect this to be easy but I did think I would get a picture when I plugged it in and I would have thought that if I was getting a menu I would get a picture! frustration is really setting in now lol

The screen needs to detect a signal from the camera before it will fire up, if you are getting a fuzzy picture it is receiving a signal, it could be either a fault with the camera or a faulty screen.

Can you get your hands on a spare of either from a local member with a setup and work out where the fault lies by process of elimination?

I would help if I were closer as I have 3 cameras already set up and 7 or 8 screens.... hoping someone local can help you!

I think it's the camera dude the screen works with my video camera! Probably proves I shouldn't have tried to build this on a budget! Rushed in again lol!

If the camera menu is coming up on the screen then screen is of the correct type to be able to work with the camera and all of the cables are correct.

This is something in the camera menu, a fault with the camera, or a focus / lens issue, in my view.

When you put your hand over the lens does the screen change?
    Cheers Andy

I haven't had any screen change from either putting my hand over the lens or changing the focus, the only way I can change things is to get a "fuzzy" screen when I change the brightness in the menu! Have tried all ways with the wiring! I have ordered another camera which should be here soon so hopefully back on track shortly! It's just frustrating being so close and not getting anywhere!

thanks again for the support guys!!!!!

When you get the new camera check it BEFORE you start pulling bits off it! On the old one it's possible that you may have broken one or more of the connections between the sensor and pcb if you were a bit rough removing the ir filter - you should be able to see this with a magnifying glass.

Yeah terry I rushed in as I didn't know how long the monitor was going to take to arrive! Maybe we should make this a sticky thread on how not to attempt night vision lol
