1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

9/11, it doesn't seem that long ago really when you think about it, I was at work when I heard it on the news, my boss turned the radio up & asked if I'd heard this, the broadcasters were getting confused as the second plane that hit the towers was being reported as the first again and just a late bit of news coming through.
Then getting home & seeing it unfold, I remember thinking is this really happening? Like an action/disaster movie coming true!
I'll always remember sitting at home trying to comprehend what was going on, growing up in the 80's I got used to seeing the aftermath of bombs going off but you never really saw it actually happening.

Yes 18 years ago. Where has that time gone?
I was just going on leave at the base I was serving on. (RAF Coltishall on a Jaguar Sqn.) Watched it unfold on my TV live. I remember saying to the wife that this is going to cause problems. About 10 minutes later the base sirens went off and all personnel were recalled to active duty as the alert state went up to it's highest setting. And 2 years later, from the same base I caught transport to South Cerney for onward military flight to somewhere in the dessert just south of Iraq where I spent the next 6 months for Gulf War 2. I was used to it though, I'd already done something similar during Gulf War 1 ten years earlier.

people having to make a decision whether to jump to their deaths or burn alive.

    My god
It certainly doesn't seem that long ago
I was doing the same, working and helping the stores/batch picker up on the mezzanine floor, he always had the radio on and as you say it was like listening to a disaster movie with the second plane hitting. We thought the first plane was just some huge tragic accident but we're just standing frozen to the spot speechless as it unfolded
Let's hope nothing like this happens again

I was handing in my arrivals chit at my new posting and heard it on the radio in the pay office. Like a berk I stayed to listen and the camp gates shut and I was kept on base all afternoon. Time has flown by, I also had a trip out to the big sandy place a couple of years later.

I was off work, having sprained my neck in an accident. I was at home propped up in front of CNN and watched it all open mouthed and agog.

I was still on a reservist retainer and the M.O.D. tried to recall me, but a letter from the Chief Freemason put an end to that. Shame, as I was quite hoping to escape the (now ex) wife for a bit. Fair play, I think the force would have lost 150 or so coppers in one hit if they'd let them go, and that was never going to fly.

I worked in a casino at Marble Arch (Little Beirut as it was known) at the time with a predominantly Arab clientele and woke up after a night shift to see this unfolding on tv. When I went to work that evening, the casino and the surrounding streets were like a ghost town.

I was working on a building site, and when it came on the news on the radio and everyone stopped working to listen to what was going on the foreman told us it wasn't break time and to get on with what we were building.

I remember the first one went in and the news were rattling on about this "terrible accident."

Accident? What are you on about, you idiots, though I. They then interviewed Tom Clancy, who'd written a book about a disgruntled Japanese pilot crashing his 747 into the US Senate building, and Clancy said exactly what I'd been thinking - accident my behind. No sooner had he spoken when the second one went in.

Just awful. Still, they pulled the tigers tail that day and it wasn't long before they got to see its teeth. I bet the SeALs just loved punching Bin Laden's ticket.

I was at work too. I remember the internet 'melting'. And we had a good link as we were in the IT department.
