1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Inspired by the lovely looking rifle on a recent thread (Lone Wolf's IIRC), I've decided that I need one of these rifles to add to my collection.

Don't really know much about them. The .177 seems to be much rarer than .22. I wonder also if they only ever came in beech stock. Ideally I'd like walnut. Did see an advert for a trader who had a walnut .177 for restoration at just £99. Seemed like my ideal gun, but I called and it was long gone. He was adamant that it was in a walnut stock, though I can't find any info about whether that was offered originally. Have seen a few ads for guns for sale, none of them mention the stock timber at all. Some are dark enough to be walnut, but surely if they were the seller would say so.

Any info on these appreciated. I've put a wanted ad up but I'm not sure how many people are likely to see it.

If you do have one, or know of one coming up for sale, them please let me know. My ideal would be:

    .177
    Carbine
    Walnut stock

Requires restoration ideally, partly due to price, partly cos I just enjoy the process. Have already done a Supersport but fancy something more worthwhile that I can really do up to a high standard.

In the meantime, any info would be much valued.

Truckcab you will be very happy if you do pick one up .As for being wallnut i dont think they made one. The .22 is beech but its got tigger stripes and rather nice . I purchased a .177 Star to go with the .177 Star i had .Cocking is smooth and the .177 is spot on . I have not had time to try out the .22. My mate as one for sale but in .22 ,it was a prize from some shooting magazine .But so wanted £300 for it .I can check if your interested.

Appreciate the info. They do seem very well regarded though info seems quite scarce. I'll pass on the offer of your friends. I think I'm looking at probably half that amount as a max. I've seen a few advertised from £140-£160, and ideally if I can make myself wait, I'd love to find a fixer-upper. Ill enjoy the tinkering as much as I will shooting it.
    Many thanks.

That would be much appreciated. Found a custom walnut thumbhole stocked one at Woodys of Wembley, but at £365 I'm not sure it fits my idea of an inexpensive resto project. ! Wouldn't worry too much if I spent that by the time it's completed, but I'd need it to feel like 'mine' at the end of it for that money.

Do I know you? - that fits my profile.

    Hi Truckcab.

I've got a Superstar for sale. Decided to sell it before Xmas but not had a chance to get round to posting it up on here yet. I'll PM you with some details as it might fit the bill.

Received and replied. Far too good for me, but if anyone else is after an exceptional condition .22, then I'd suggest dropping Trampilot a pm.

We'll, as I said to Lone Wolf in an earlier PM, I'm like a spoilt child when I decide I want something, and have already gone and bought one. :D

.22, full length. Still has original sights fitted, and also a silencer, though looks more like a barrel weight in the pics.

Bought unseen from a dealer in Devon, so I've taken on trust that it's as described. Nice dark stock, so much so that I wonder if that's why the other dealer thought he had a walnut one. Few marks on the stock apparently (though not apparent in pics), bluing generally good. Not overly concerned to be honest, as I intend to strip, tune and restore.

Price - £125. Thought that was pretty fair. Advertised for £150, but he's discounted to cover my RFD costs. Now I know this means that it still cost me £150, but I'll tell myself it was £125 nonetheless! When the wife sees it it will have cost me 'only £50' anyway !

Seemed about right from the few I've seen advertised to date.

Pics to follow when it arrives next week.
