1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    We'll. Here it is.

Very pleased with it. Woodwork is in great condition. No dents at all. Few scratches in the varnish, but that's all coming off anyway when I refurb the stock. Sling studs fitted. Small section of stock flattened off under stud, presumably so it sits square without crushing timber. Not seen that done before but looks fine. Bluing in great condition. Far better than I expected. Only the front three inches of the under leaver has any rust, and that should rub down fine. Was intending to re-blue this, but not sure it needs it.

Has silencer fitted. Presumably made for the gun as it is slotted to miss the foresight and under leaver locking pin. Anyone know how it comes off? There are no grub screws underneath. I suspect it might be held on by the foresight. I've had the blade of the sight off, but the allen screw below it is a really odd size. Imperial presumably, my current keys won't turn it. Anyone know?

Cocks really smoothly. Rotary breech moves smoothly, despite an excess of grease gummed up around it. Looks like someone's used general grease rather than moly.

Have only shot three pellets. Thought I'd check the power just for peace of mind. Whoops! Very consistent, but consistently 13.3ftlb. Checked I'd entered the pellet weight correctly after the first, and I had. 14.5gns.

Have taken action out of stock. Will need to strip it down. Probably won't bother adjusting the current spring as I'll fit a tuning kit just for the hell of it. Any advice? V Mach? Welsh Willy?

serial number appears to be RH 07015. Any idea what year it is?

    Lovely mate:)
Its a good feeling to get something you really want!

Well the serial number denotes a .22 superstar but i dont know how to pin it down to a year of birth?

Ive got as far as getting the spring and guide out of mine which were well greased up,to get the rest of the guts out you need to remove the maxi rail which ive got a g clamp to compress the rubber under the rail to then tap it backwards to remove it then the rest can come out.

As for tuning at bar the vmach kits are sold out in .22 ,would a .177 go in with less power band washers?

Does ww do lits for the superstar?

Nice gun mate and i look forward to seeing your progress with her:)

    My Superstar is a Mk 2 Carbine serial number is 16767 and that's 1993 - with yours starting with a zero I'd guess it's between 1990 - 1993 and possibly a Mk 1.

Many thanks. Definitely an Allen key this one, but it's between 2 and 2.5mm. I do have some star drivers though so I'll give them a try. That said, I'm pretty sure the silencer isn't held on by this having looked again. If not ill dremel one down.

Any ideas. Looks like it just slips on. Are they normally loctited on? Had a look online and no help there, but it turned up the fact that they seem pretty rare.

Already part-stripped the stock this evening! Nice condition. Think ill dark oak stain it and Danish oil. Don't like the shiny varnish finish on guns, even in beech stocks.

Ive not seen one with a slip on mod before, only ones that are male threaded to screw directly into the carbine versions muzzle.

Yours looks like a full length rifle from the pics?

I dont like the varnish look either mate and am thinking of stripping it of and looking at some wood dyes and then sealing with danish oil also,i think you can get two types of danish oil one is light and the other slightly darker?.

Get some pics up as you go mate:)

Yep, full length. Too impatient to wait for a carbine. Not sure about the dark and light Danish oils. Mine is just marked as Danish oil I think. Used it on my supersport resto. Nice semi-gloss finish, though probably needs a couple more coats. Will take more time and do more coats on this one.

Very good mate, I've just bought a .22 Theobenised Superstar that Theoben sold back in the 1990's. Only 150 ever made.

It has an adjustable gas ram & super slim muzzle weight as fitted by Theoben :)

Can't wait for it to arrive :)
