1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I'm after some help please guys. I've got a mk2 R-10 I bought second hand that's been shortened about 5" and I recently checked it over a chrono and its only putting out 10ft/lb. I'm getting more into my shooting now so I thought if I got to send it to be serviced to put the power up I might as well have it tuned.

The 2 options for me are XTX air or Rat works (blueprinting is a bit expensive) which one would you guys recommended? Also do you think its worth the extra money for a tench regulator for an extra £100. I've read their better if your gun has been shortened than the standard reg. I love my gun but I only go shooting about 2-3 times a month and then its rabbiting and never any HFT. If it only makes a small difference I won't bother and just have a standard tune and save the money.

Any help or opinions are really appreciated.

    Thanks very much

Darrin @ XTX has a good rep as quite a few guys on here have sent their rifles to him for fettling and there's no bad feedback AFAIK.

Ratworks are an unknown to me but I'm sure someone will give you an answer.

edit - for what it's worth the reg on the R10 has changed quite a few times since it was first put into the gun and has been one of the major causes of.... performance issues. A custom reg will see that the gun's performing at its best so - if it was me and I was getting a fettle on one - replacing it with a Tench or similar would be a no-brainer ;)

I would be more concerned about how consistent the gun is as opposed to the power. If the gun is consistent and the spread in fps per shot in single figures then if needed you can get the power adjusted upwards. what pellets are you using? is the gun shooting 10 ft/lbs with bis mag?

Hmm, Bowkett as a verb. To Bowkett - definition "to fix, at significant additional cost, all the problems built into the gun in the first place" maybe ? :D

I bought a early mk1 R10 second hand a few years back, I sent it straight Darrin @ xtx. It had a x tune, tench reg, bsa ultra barrel fitted and wow it's a different rifle and never missed a beat. I've added a huub shroud and it's now a great little multi shot rifle. Darren's work was spot on, kept me up to date on things and for me he's a gent and knows his stuff ( also a member on here)

Phil @ Ratworks is also a great guy, I've had bits and bobs from him and always spot on too. He can be found on the bsa forum and again a helpful guy

bowkett doesn't fit tench regs as far as I know? at least there's no mention of it on his website. he's also considerably more expensive than the other 2. my gun is 10ft/lb with accupell, its pellet of choice

a little bit off topic, but why do people have a ultra barrel fitted to their r10? is it because they are shorter or are they more accurate than the standard barrel. if so does that affect the shot count?

bowkett has put the price of a blueprint up. I can get a tench reg fitted and x tune for the same price. what would people think would improve the gun more?

a tench reg and x tune would make it an awesome reliable gun,Darrin can work wonders.my r10 came back from Darrin after x tune and had ultra barrel and huub shroud fitted,it's now awesome!can't vouch for blueprint but I imagine it would be good as well, but thumb up for darrin:up: (quality work and really nice bloke)

I think I'm going to go for XTX tune without the tench. I don't use my gun enough to spend £250 making it a little bit better. £150 I can just about deal with! its a 2012 model so the reg should be OK as standard I hope

Bowkett doesn't use the factory regulator, which doesn't work. This is what he says and the reason for the price hike on the R10.
"Price change from 1/3/14 concerning the Blueprint Tune for the R10.
This is now £150 + £30 VAT + postage costs of £24 including VAT.
The regulator as fitted to these has changed considerably, at one time almost weekly, and now has to have all of its internals either heavily modified or replaced altering the design to one that actually works and that I can cover with my guarantee. The factory must ...be aware of this because they now fit a reduced size air transfer port in an effort to control the velocity over a fill! That should be the job of a regulator set at the correct level. Over time the pressure setting of the regulator will also vary because of the design now used. I would stress that I had no hand in these changes. I have done many hundreds of Blueprint Tunes on the R10 and offer a guarantee including return of postage costs if in the unlikely event there is a problem. This is for the original customer and subject to the rifle not having been tampered with. I would have gone bust a long while ago with postage costs both ways totalling £50 if Blueprint Tuned R10s didn’t come up to the high level of performance and reliability they do. Most R10s I see have witness marks on the steel end plug of the hammer tube where the cap has been prised off using an old wood chisel and hammer indicating they have been back to the manufacturer under warranty at least once."

Not heresay but extracted from his official facebook page.

Its his money he is spending so the choice has got to be his. Enough advice has already been posted on these forums to form an opinion.

I have sent my new ultra SE multiple shot to XTX for a Huma reg and a Huub shroud. Only problem is it has been gone since 12 Feb and still waiting. Hopefully will be worth the wait.
