1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

Took delivery of one of these yesterday. It's the noisiest basteward under the sun when cocking itself at the push of a button, but quite nice to shoot.

    Anyone else got one?

I also have one of these Dave, it takes a lot to impress me but this Rifle impressed me no end.
I expected it to be a bit of a gimmick but was surprised to find it has superb build quality and supreme accuracy even with the standard open sights (yet to try a scope on it)
I shot it for the first time at the club yesterday @ 20 yards standing with .177 RWS Hobby pellets open sights and managed tight grouping in the middle of target!
More than 60 shots on one charge and battery still has more shots, all the other club members were also very impressed and found its quirkiness very amusing :D

Out of interest Dave how much did it cost you and what year were they first manufactured? I believe they cost £800 to £900 when new, is this correct?

I paid two hundred for mine, it was a bit of a bargain really. They came out in the eighties, I've got some magazine articles on them, will check the date when I get home. Terry Doe refused to review them in his magazine at the time he thought they were that bad.

They were very expensive at the time, which really is why they failed. The intended market would have been disabled / elderly shooters, as this was the period when PCPs were beginning to become affordable they were a totally unviable option. The racket they make makes them useless in the field and any target shooting event would probably ban them due to them being a distraction to other shooters.

Mine comes out every now and again. I'm taking it to the boinger bash (organised by the other forum) in Nuneaton at the weekend for an airing.

Don't forget to give it a regular charging, the battery won't last if it's not exercised regularly.

If you're interested, look up the Winstar, also designed by Rutten.

Manufacturing quality is excellent on them, and accurate as any other rifle from the period. I enjoy using mine, can't say that everyone else in earshot does the same.

Secondhand they go for about 300 - 400, although I have seen them advertised for much more.

Sorry Mick, there's a noise abatement order for twenty miles around me preventing it's use locally.

I was thinking about this lot this afternoon Dave.

I thought the gun came out way before Terry started writing for the mags, and when he did start writing he was just writing his Field Target Comment page not reviewing guns.

And he was just a writer back then and someone else was editor, so it wasn't his magazine as such.

There was an article on the gun and the factory in one of the mags at the time, if you haven't got it I'll dig it out for you and scan it. :)

    All the best Mick

I've seen it on here or the other side written by Terry in one of the threads relating to magazine reviews.

Re. pics Gasman, if the fog lifts, I'll get some at the weekend.

Mine is named the black and decker by fellow boingers, I think it's meant to be affectionate.
