1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

In that case virtually all advertising is dirty as inducing you to buy their product(s) is the main/sole aim of most advertising or at least make you aware of the company and its product(s) in the hope that you will then buy it/them.Any advert whose aim is not that is rather pointless.

Under the pretence of raising money for the Royal British legion! And to do that using the Christmas truce I find insulting, if they want to raise money then have a section in their stores with a simple advert specifying what money goes where.

Well did the advert serve its purpose and in fact raise money for the Royal British Legion if it did then it served its purpose. If it didn't then it was wrong to have used that theme in the advert but if that was the case i'm sure the ASA would have had something to say about it.

I like everything about Christmas apart from the religious aspect, it's the same story every year! Borzo, come up with another one or don't bother..Christmas is about presents, too much booze and being let down by Christmas day TV, not Mary, Jesus and the rest of em.

TM of Kent: To be racist would mean to judge someone on the colour of their skin which is simply not what you have done by mentioning the left wing PC mixed race 'family' in the JL cringey advert.

Personally I object to this part of the advert because it is another attempt to normalize something in life that I just don't agree with.

I have witnessed so many examples of half caste kids who struggle to fit in society, and never really know where they are in life.

Curiously in my experience I've found half caste men who classify themselves more often as black rather than white?

I think this comes down to a better chance of acceptance from the black community perhaps.

Back to the ***t JL advert; what gets me is when a mixed race 'family' is portrayed on screen it always seems a black man and white woman?

They wouldn't dare make it the other way around as it is generally known that west indian men have a tendancy to violently object to a white man seen with a black woman. My south London upbringing taught me this amongst many other things.

Also the fart noise they put in is neither funny or cute, just uncouth, cheap lazy marketing.

The JL price match is a fkin joke too. I tried to match a price on a dab radio this summer inwhich initially they refused to honour the price because they claimed that Powerdirect.com was solely an internet business even though this business has store albeit ooop north.

They then said to do an online price match would take 24 hours for a decision to be made and in that time the dab radio might well of sold out at the other place. Grrrr.

I too think the current JL advert is an expensive load of crap, which is a pity as they have produced some quite good ones previously, but I do like the current Aldi advert, even if it is considerably shorter than the JL one.

I’m super super serious about this.

Lots of people pay close attention to what I say and I expect this idea to really gain traction soon.

I won't boycott Christmas as was suggested by a contributor. It is part of the English tradition and culture and we should be proud of that and celebrate it and enjoy it.

As for John Lewis - like the OP i to am fed up with the PC world that is thrust upon us. And if we don't conform to the PC guidelines then we are racist, sexist, antisemitic and whatever other terms you can dream up - we are then labelled as the PD crowd deem fit instead of being accepted for what we are ' traditionalists'.

I try every year but only once managed to get away with it. The only reason I go back to my parents at christmas these days is because I pretty much have carte blanche with the food budget. Stupid holiday.
