1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

If you haven't,its another case of mis-education or lack of education whatsoever.

Anything that looks remotely gun shaped seems to get seized :(

As long as the barrel is not cambered only rifled it is not ilegal and within your right to bring it in.

Unless it's being addressed to someone who isn't an RFD? If your sending it to your home address it may get seized? I was told similar when ordering a replacement cylinder for my s400. Had it sent to RFD instead.

Depending on where you order from this is most certainy not the case.

I regularly order barrels and complete air rifles from a certain German website.

DHL deliver them to my door within a few days, usually 4.

It is ironic that ordering a barrel in the UK, from a UK supplier, is more expensive and has to go through an RFD while ordering from EU countries allows air rifle parts and complete rifles to be shipped direct to your door.

As far as I know only moderators are subject to going through an RFD, but I am happy be learn otherwise :)

This gets more and more confusing each time the subject is brought up last gun I purchased in a private sale came in it's original AA box with the stickers still attached posted on a wednesday delivered to me on the saturday no wrapping to disguise what it was just two labels declaring sender and recipient, guess who the courier was? the much criticised MyHermes, rifle was an s400 classic super-lite, should also add there was 150bar air in the cylinder. This is a company that state they will not touch air rifle equipment under any circumstance

The 'Border Force' aren't guaranteed to know exactly what is what, you need to pursue your claim from the point of view it's just an air rifle barrel & could not be used for actual ammunition, in the short term just a link to the Crosman website may be enough - but good luck, they're a bit of a lottery.

Any component part must be purchased through an RFD. The law classifies any pressure bearing part as a component. This is things such as cylinder, barrel, reservoir, piston and valves.

Other parts that aren't pressure bearing are not classed as components.

Hi Del, some more information is needed.
From whom did you order the barrel and how long ago.
    Which country.
Do you know how it was posted, which carrier.
Who has told you that it has been seized as being a firearm.
Have the people that 'seized' supplied any evidence and paperwork for making a claim?.

I'm sure that this might help to understand a bit more of what is going on.

Those pressure bearing parts, are reference to UK law for citizens purchasing parts from UK Sellers. I've purchased barrels from the US and Europe without concern. I only got stung with TAX from America. Now't else.
I'm sure i read in the blurp, you can buy a barrel blank and have it sent to you from a gunshop, direct to your door...without the need for another RFD to accept the part....simply because it's a 'blank' and it hasn't got a breech on it ;-/

I thought there was free trade between members of the EU so you could buy products from any other EU country without hinderance. It's European law.
I don't know about our relationship with the USA.

    Ouch!

It doesn't sound as if it has been confiscated. Just held while they work out what actions to take.
In your case, why 5 barrel blanks and not one. This has roused their suspicions.
Hopefully you will get an invoice for importing for personal use and not for financial gain as a trader. The tax on a scope from the USA is 4%, plus 20% vat on the lot, plus £13.50 customs clearance/paperwork. Hopefully the tax on rifle barrels is not too exorbitant, did you check before ordering?.
