1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I was planning on visiting tomorrow but unsure if you need to be a member/book an induction etc.

I meant to call them today but too busy and ended up forgetting.

Hi Gary, I am and will be going on Saturday but have plans for tomorrow.

You can take your gun and photo ID and pay just for the day to see what you think, they will give you a quick once round as long as your an experienced shooter and cover the safety brief with you. They also sell pellets/targets and supply free air as well as the use of some home made rests if you don't have your own. They are mostly a friendly bunch, but if you sit alone and don't talk to people that is what your experience will be - so be polite but don't be shy, have a walk along and say hello to people.:thumb:

You may have to park "all the way" round the back and round to the right, so its a 200 yard walk back to the entrance which is just as you drive into the car park - remember the old mill is used commercially by several firms. The gun club is on the 4th floor, so use the very old lift and make sure the doors are shut or it will not move, and close them after you also. The club is on the left when you get to the 4th floor.

They do T/Coffee for 50p and chocolate bars for 50/70p - it's a great set up for very little money, go a couple of times and see if it's worth joining, but I'm guessing with the travelling you would be better off just doing pay as you go.

I'm hoping to be going today (Friday) but it's dependant on whether one of my rifles is ready to be collected from BAR, it's at Daystate for some warranty work and they are expecting it back any time (it's been 5 weeks).
As James says, the lift is an old type one but it has some sensors fitted and if you stand too close to the door whilst its moving it will stop.
You're more local to it than me and I'm a member, I think membership is a very reasonable £40 (January-December) then the range fees go down from £6 to £4 and being a member entitles you to free brews.
I really like the club and all the people I've met there are really nice.
    Gary.

    Gary,
Just a heads up that's its opening time is from 13.00 to 21:00.
On the way home do not come back up A580 East Lancs as it has roadworks on that section.
Your better off staying on the A572 Newton Road towards Lowton and joining the East Lancs further down turning right at Texaco Garage.

I will try and get down for a few hours later and kept an eye out and will say hello if you go.

I'm hopefully going to be there at opening time, I'm easy to spot, it's obvious I don't know what I'm doing and I spend most of the time missing "bangers".:D

Well chaps, got in there earlier on around 5pm took the oldest most ricketyest lift upto the 4th floor, and set up shop. Started by zeroing the scope on my 97 once it was zerod started having a play around with various targets. Then began to zero the scope on my 80. Got that set up and started talking to a nice chap who had a few PCP guns with him. Had my first ever go after a PCP in the shape of a daystate wolf(?) I think he said it was. I was amazed by the accuracy at the 15mm targets I was hitting at 36 yards. Then after that he kindly let me shoot a couple of mags from a nice s410 superlite. Again this was super accurate and I thoroughly enjoyed the PCPs. Then I went back to hitting spinners with my springers for a bit. 4 hours well spent.

However I now need a PCP in my life. I was warned this game becomes expensive.

I'm glad you had a good time and found the members helpful and easy to get on with. I know who you are talking about but his name escapes me for now , I'm sure he is into bikes also - has a GSXR750 I believe?

Don't worry about spending money, we are the very people to help you do it :D
