1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

If you tell us where you or your friend live I'm sure someone on here will recommend a dealer nearby that you can check out.

Going by my recent experience, you need to check with Redbeck too on whether their "In stock" listings actually mean that.

They had such an item listed and I emailed a query about whether it was available. To be fair, they responded and did so promptly but they did confirm they didn't have it in. It was still showing as in stock a few hours after that, too.

Not having a pop at them, they seem pretty good, but it sort of suggests even good retailers don't necessarily have good stock/website interfaces.

I would suggest your friend join this forum and check out the sales section. There are many trusted sellers on there. It also enables you to check sellers feedback.

I had an issue with these guys recently, sold me a scope, never turned up, when I queried after 4 weeks they said its out of stock and back ordered! I asked why have it "in stock" online and was told the website needs updating!! Refund requested and went DAB shooting supplies in Hartlepool and was delivered 48 hours later :)

I bought my new Steyr from Crawley Surplus, best price on the UK web. RFD transfer to a local RFD. Always quickly answered my many annoying questions by phone and email, polite and friendly. Sent same day that I paid them. Arrived at local RFD next day. Massive stocks of airguns and accessories.

    5 star highly recommended.

You will always get good and bad reports about any outfit.
When you have the likes of The Airgun Centre being run by the same chap who started there as a teenager after school hours, then as a Saturday boy and finally took over from the original owner when he retired and is still trading now... that says a lot. They have a list of well known customers on the wall: pop stars, film stars, premiership footballers, racing drivers, moto GP riders, TV stars, on top of the likes of you and I. People like that would soon take their business elsewhere if the service was not up to scratch. Will they have made mistakes or had some sales go wrong? OF COURSE, but how did they sort it out, that is the question that really counts.

    The Airgun Centre
    Sandwell Field Sports
Blackpool Air Rifles (sell worldwide, with a worldwide reputation)
The place at Tamworth that I have forgotten the name of!

    There are loads of them.

The Tamworth one is Solware. Like Sandwell they are close enough to collect from. I was never sure about them, some seem happy with them, others have said don't count on them having stock of items they are advertising.

A simple phone call will answer that one! Everyone is having problems with stock at the moment. Have you heard about the 40 mile traffic queues at the Italian border? Same from all major routes into Germany. We don't hear about it on our news, but if you just ask Google you can find out what is happening in the rest of the world.... we are doing OK over here. Europe is also having problems. The Dutch riots, for example - another thing we don't get told about. Supply chain issues all over the world. Containers stacking up on the docks because there isn't the return shipping to take them back, that reduces the capacity of the docks at Southampton, Felixstowe and Liverpool.

I thought that Dolphin place rang a bell. I've just looked at their website and saw immediately I had previously browsed it - but not for long. Unfortunately, they are one of those retailers I don't give anything other than a cursory glance to because when I look for a product price I want to see "£xx", not "Contact us".

I don't care if they are flogging Drennan multiplier reels and listing them for £39.99 - which they are. I don't fish, so if they want people calling about them for a price then that's of no consequence to me. What I may be interested in is the Compatto they have listed next to that reel but doesn't have a price. I'm not going to phone them up to find out whether they are selling items for a price that's lower, higher or the same as places that are actually prepared to state their price. Call me picky or weird but I like my internet shopping to be done 90% on the internet and perhaps 10% by phone or email to complete the deal. Finding a product listed on a site then having to pick up the phone reverses that 90%/10%. That's approaching walking in off the street style shopping. 'member that? :laff:

He would get more for his money with a second hand one and he could even start with a hw99 if wanting a springer or a gamo phox for a pcp these are both great guns I have had them both but if he waits until lockdown is over go the local range and see what people have there and ask for a hold and see how they feel

I just got my TX200 from Sportsguns. I placed the order and received a phone call to say that due to stock challenges the lead time would be 6 weeks and gave me the option to cancel. To be fair on them, delivery was 6 weeks to the day. Given the current situation, I didn't think that was too bad. Ideally I would have purchased locally but given lockdown and local shops being closed. Online with home delivery was my best option. Obviously the lead time wasn't ideal, but I couldn't fault their customer service.
