1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    As above,

Are the muzzle attached chronographs accurate enough for tuning air rifles or choosing the right pellet for a particular gun?

I have seen the above chronographs and also the shaded ones and was wondering if the shaded ones are worth the extra money?

    Thanks on advance,

    Rob

If used properly, with good batteries, and level etc, yes they are fine

Both require a bit of setting up but once set up the shaded ones (f1) can then be used with as many guns as you want. The combro has to be set up with each gun. But yes they are accurate.

The Combro is very accurate, for the simple reason the chrono is in exactly the same place each time the gun is fired.

save yourself a few quid and get a combro , i did a shot string using the combro and at the same time shooting through a skan so i could compare the figures and i shouldn't have bothered because the readings were virtually identical

Used one for 3 years, mine only gets a bit glitchy when the batteries are needing replaced.

Mine is permanently attached to an old silencer with plenty duck tape, so it doesn't move:)

Not had any problems with mine. Its been clipped more then once and even had the front hood blown off. But you can rebuild them or send them to be serviced. They are good at aftercare

I use a Skan to check mine against regularly and it reads the same.

    Hi,

Had no problems with mine. Better for use on PCPs due to lack of recoil. I would bet that most people who have damaged one have done it on a springer/gasram (hand in air here :D). IIRC they claim the same accuracy as other makes and without access to an accurately calibrated one to compare against who is to argue and that also goes for any other make/model. Combro though is obviously no use for downrange chronoing (unless you really are that good a shot :)) but as you say great for pellet choosing/shotstrings/power curve/staying legal type of stuff. Can also now link Combro to Android phones vie 'Blueshot' software (free) plus cable (not free). Handy out in the field maybe!

Great bits of kit, pain in the arse on springers though.
Wish there was a mode where it reset its self when you do another shot.

Or or even a cable with a reset button and a separate screen closer to the shooter:)

I think they are very good value for the money and offer reasonable repeatability but the absolute reading value can vary with set-up.
Mine does not seem to like being close to the muzzle giving more absolute values as it is moved further away also bright light affects it a little.
It needed a little fettling around the dovetail in order to operate smoothly.

I chrono'd my newly accuried daystate regal with my combro and it's in the 10ftlb bracket,I mentioned this to the shop owner the other day where I purchased the rifle has I was thinking of having it sent back to have it upped a little bit,he told me that if any daystate rifle was was chrono'd with a combro then daystate would not take them back has there has been problems with the combro.

I still use mine, I've found that if you are a couple of mm high it reads high and reads low if below centre, alignment tool helps, also as I use mine on break barrels mainly I find that cocking it with the alignment tool in stops it dancing around and breaking V blocks. I sent mine away for calibration and cost only £7.50 to have done

Mine too is very accurate. We tested it at dai too against Pete's skan it was bang on .
Agreed battery state is paramount as is alignment.
Spares are very cheap simple to replace too.
Already said too is their excellent customer service .
I used to tape my v block to barrel but v bent slightly somehow so I bought new and now I use 1" wide elastic the kind used in trouser waists with Velcro to secure end .
I found this better myself ,but I still check after every shot as they can move some occasionally .
All round excellent quality ,value and indoor use no issues ,
Top job combro well done .

It is very accurate. Mine gave same reading as our gun shop skan.

Buy the lead and hook it up to a laptop! Auto resets and logs the data then!

    Intresting thread with conflicting reports.
Are some confusing empirical repeatability with absolute accuracy?

The test needs to be repeatable to be accurate! Because the Combro is held in position it is less liable to movement which on standalone chronos can lead to shot to shot variation!
