1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I used to do similar (multiple knock-down targets, time limit) when CO2 came off ticket and rapid fire became an accessible and practical proposition. Without a doubt the most fun and exciting shooting discipline I've ever shot.. really got the adrenaline going :)

Usually everything was shot from a single position (no running about) and included reloads. Targets and format varied; clear as many targets in a set time / with a set number of shots, clear all targets in the fastest time with unlimited shots, etc. Emphasis was placed on precision rather than speed (although it was a factor) - none of this "hit 3 x 5' steel plates 3" from your face as quick as you can" rubbish :p

Great fun but I got a bit p****d off with the kit in the end - once you reach a certain level you hanker for better performance than the Umarex clones could give. In addition I didn't really like the "Walter Mitty" attitude of some of the attendees - yes, everyone was safe, however I couldn't abide constant references and comparisons to centrefire pistols, nor the number of people strutting around with holstered pistols - we weren't in the wild west..

IMO if shot with proper, high capacity (10 shots +) true-semi-automatic air pistols with decent triggers and rapid reload potential, starting from an unholstered 45 degree ready position and with an exclusion of holsters and general macho posturing and behaviour; this would be a fantastic way to spend a Sunday :D

There is a Open Match @ Thorn - Sunday

And another one Next Saturday 12/4/14 @ Lea Valley

    Which welcome Shooters -

    *****************************************************

I am very pleased to announce that the new venue at Thorn Ranges, will be able to host at least two IPAS Open matches during 2014!

The first match will take place on Sunday 6th April, 2014. So it's just two weeks until the first match at this great new complex, and we've got room for many more shooters. If you're undecided, don't be, just come along and enjoy yourself! And chivvy along your shooting friends who haven't yet signed up.

All are welcome, whether you are experienced or a 'tyro'. 6mm plastic BB Airsoft pistols allowed, and lead BB firing pistols, but no metal BB's.

The match will start at 10am, so could you be there by 9.30am to allow time to get everyone booked in, and for the Range Safety briefing please. If you are a 'tyro' and/or if this is your first competition, try to arrive a little earlier so that we can run you through what you'll need to know.

There will be 10 full stages for the main competition, with the possibility of running one or two Practical Steel Plate stages at the end and
the entry fee is £10 per head.

The range complex will provide a fifty yard wide covered firing point, and has toilets, a club house and ample parking.

As the people who normally do the catering are away on holiday, I'm afraid on this occasion there will be no facility on site to buy food, so please bring your own. However, there will be lots of FREE shortbread and cakes available, made by the lovely Penny! There are also facilities for tea and coffee making, at a nominal charge, and soft drinks will be available for purchase.

It would be great to get a lot of support for the venue after the hard work and investment that the clubs at the complex have put into bringing IPAS to Thorn Ranges.

The full address is Thorn Range, Thorn Road, Nr. Dunstable, Beds. LU5 6JQ. The link for the website and location map is - http://www.bedsssa.org.uk/facilities/

Please let me know, via the forum, if you would like to enter, with your name, whether you’ll be shooting CO2 or Airsoft, and whether you’re in the Open or Standard Division.

The second match will be on Sunday 7th September, 2014.

We look forward to seeing you at Thorn!

    Good shooting

Paul van den Bosch (IPAS Public Relations Officer)
