1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

Even if this is just your own personal opinion, RESPECT YOUR FELLOW MEMBERS.'

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I spoke to a shop last week about ordering a left handed hw95k checked on how long it would take how much extra they would charge for the left hand option how long it would take spoke to them today and the cost of the gun has gone up from 235 plus 30 for the lefty to 275 plus 30 for the lefty when i checked yesterday it was still 235 and they won't do anything about the price. I can accept that the price has gone up what annoys me is that i spoke to them yesterday they knew the price was going up and if they had warned me i would have gone and got the money for the deposit yesterday and rushed back there before they closed even tho it's it's an hour and half round trip.

It happened to my dad once in a local fishing tackle shop about 15 years ago, he was quoted £185.00 for a pole and when he went to get it they told £235.00. He argued that he ordered it at £185 and the shop owner said sorry it's gone up. The shop was full of people so my dad shouted over the top of them "you can stick your pole you robber trying to con me out of £50 and I will make sure all the local fishing club know what you have done, I will never come in your shop again and tell them not to either". My mum walked out because she said my dad was so rude, when my dad came out the shop owner did too and chased him up the road apologising and said he could have his pole at the ordered price. He made sure he got his point across :D

If i'd gone back a week later i could acccept it but the fact that i spoke to them yesterday and they didn't tell even though they knew i was going in to pay the deposit today winds me up

Cheeky gets! My wife was in Halfords yesterday, behind a woman who was buying a £300 bike for her kid. They didn't have any in stock so offered her the display model - fine she says - ok they says we'll just take it out the back and take off the mudguards and other extras or did you want to pay the extra for them:eek::eek::eek:

She hits the roof not surprisingly:D:D

Think the retailers are feeling the pinch at the moment.

I went to a local gunshop to have a BSA serviced, originally I was told it would take a week, on taking the gun to the shop and saying I would pick it up the following Saturday, the owner said it would be 2 weeks, to which I said you told me 1 week, a bit of BS from shop owner so I thought ok I'll leave it with them. 2 weeks later the gun wasn't done, more BS from shop, 3 weeks later still not done, 4 weeks later still not done and yet more BS from shopkeeper, now I'm getting a bit miffed and annoyed so tells shop that if it isn't done by the next Saturday I'll just come and get it, result was i get the gun with service done, cost £25.
Now the gun is with another bloke who reckons the service was poorly done. see thread "Help I can't shoot straight" I have now heard many stories about this shop and won't be going back. I won't name the shop but it's in a little village with 2 names not to far from me.
Just how do these shops keep trading with such poor service ?

It seems to me that since the mail order ban a lot of shops have started taking the p**s i don't even have a local shop and have at least an hour and half bus ride to my nearest shop and since the ban the quality of service in the shops round here has dropped because they know that it's not easy for there customers to go elsewhere

We live near the SMK shop, we only went in there for some pellets and Steve asked a few questions the assistants just grunted and stared at him, they hadn't a clue how to answer him, they were rubbish :(
