1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

  6. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Being (relatively) new coming back to air guns, I did find some of his reviews useful in deciding on getting the CP2, which I haven't regretted, but I must admit as I watched more of his video's I think the term 'promote' is definitely the most suited rather than 'review'.

Out of interest, what would you say are good channels to watch?

I have watched some but a lot are US based which I find too biased towards blasting ballistic gel and full auto etc. I can understand this given their gun laws but I'd prefer UK based ones for more interest closer to home.

On a side note for anyone interested I do like Tod's Workshop for a completely nerdy interest in his medieval weapons and craftsmanship making knives, crossbows, armour etc.

Different strokes for different folks. I personally enjoy the reviews and the M1A1 looks very nice. There are very few UK reviewers and if anyone thinks they can do better than Andy they are welcome to have ago

I enjoy AAR's reviews but I take them with the same pinch of salt as the airgun magz reviews. Paid to report great things. Look at Terry Doe, has he ever ever done a real honest review?

Unfortunately there's not too many good ones out there, but there's.....

Rich While-Cooper, he's an honest down to earth guy, not the most polished of videos but what he lacks in production values he makes up for in sheer honesty and he will always answer your questions, if you ever have any.

Giles from the Airgungearshow, he's an likeable, over enthusiastic reviewer that makes me laugh a lot. He does review a few pistols from time to time and he's the actual reason I own a 1911.

Then there's ReplicaReviews, a British lad who is quite experienced with the real steel versions of a lot handguns and does some good honest reviews, very thorough with the pros & cons. Comes across really well as a CO2 handgun enthusiast and compares most guns against their real steel counterparts.

Then there's RackNLoad, another UK reviewer that normally does overly long winded videos where he lets the guns speak for themselves and normally does a summing up right at the end. He's a full bore pistol shooter, albeit a LBR/LBP handguns (UK legal). He does give a good look at whatever he's reviewing, goes over it in quite some detail and he seems genuinely enthusiastic about CO2 weaponry.

Then there's a Canadian reviewer, Mike from Replica Airguns, he is just another promoter for a company but he differs from AAR in the respect that he does point out flaws and faults in the reviews, not the most knowledgeable guy but has been in the business for quite a few years and gets his hands on quite a lot of gear. A go to guy for new released gear, he doesn't mind upsetting ASG or Umarex in the reviews too, seems to have no qualms about calling a spade a spade. Plus he has made videos on converting a couple of guns to run as full auto which is legal in Canada.

But worldwide there's quite a bit Pyramyd Air and (if only I could speak German) GPC, the Gun Power Community, where the Germans seem to have got their act together really well when it comes to reviews. The reviewers are themselves all members of the GPC and release their videos through the GPC network, that way you get very honest reviews and the GPC team do all the production stuff for the reviewer (intros, titles, music etc), which gives the finished product a very polished consistent look. If only we (British CO2 shooters) could pool our resources and do the same sort of thing, we would have honest reviews that serve a very useful purpose for any would be hobbyists that are looking for real information about any possible future purchases.

I am quite envious of the GPC format and wish that we had the same here in the UK, even if it was a few members from this forum that oversaw the whole thing and kept it on track, Wow ! How good would that be ?

(The German mentality when it comes to hobbies is far different from here in the UK, they band together far more than we do under one banner, so to speak. They share information much more readily and far more importance is placed on hobbies within their society than ours does, they see it as a healthy way to occupy yourself whereas here it is often seen as just a distraction from your 'proper' role within society, we are more akin to the Japanese work ethic than we care to admit in certain ways, unfortunately)

I've digressed enough, I'll move on......

I like his videos for the simple fact that i can see how a replica gun im interested in functions.

The main issue i see is as GarryT points out. Wrong information in videos of the item being reviewed.

I ordered the M9A3 the other night after I did some more research and found out the only thing that is polymer is the frame. I had watched AA's video on it and straight away discounted it as a possible purchase because of the apparent plastic slide!!

But credit where its due. He has improved over the years a lot and at least he makes the effort to make the videos which is more than the rest of us :thumb:

If only Big Dan's Airguns reviewed pistols because his other reviews are top notch. AAR isn't perfect but he covers a lot of stuff and I have a decent understanding of what he is reviewing most of the time allowing for help in purchasing decisions. I enjoy AirgunGearShow reviews and find Giles a humourous enough chap. Replica Airguns review a decent amount of co2 pistols and I enjoy his table top review format.

Tbh mate, I really could not care less what you think.
I've probably forgotten more than Andy boy knows.

And on that note, why get confrontational on it?, you don't even know me or my background.
Do you just like a bit of aggro for no reason?

    Stuff calm down.
I have no need to prove anything to the likes of you.
When I'm on here, I make as much effort as possible to be helpful to people. I'll give tech advice when necessary, help diagnose, source difficult parts for people etc. Not only that, I try to be nice to people as well (maybe you should try it and cut the sarcasm?)
You're not really worth responding to anymore, as I have little patience with petulant children. I have much more pressing stuff to tend to , like watching paint dry......:D

Shame ! as I welcomed your valuable knowledge. Sorry to hear that you won't step up to the plate but I appreciate that you need to attend to your pressing issues. We are all a little poorer .I like Andys reviews and can read between the lines .As I've stated ,if you think that you can do better then prove me wrong .By the way the patch in the front room needs another coat .But then you'd know that .

I'm sure you'll get over the butt hurt feeling of someone slagging your mate Andy at some point eh? Pretty sure there's a soothing cream for it?
And what part of this don't you get? - Where did I say "I could do a better job?"
I inferred that others on here probably could, and I do believe this. There are many very knowledgeable people on here, who could quite possibly do a more accurate unbiased review, whilst actually getting their facts right. Being bothered to do it however is another matter. Some may not have the time / interest, or patience. But, that doesn't mean they're not capable of doing better.

    Sleep tight too sweetie XX.......:p

...a few saucers of milk thrown about here!
I think Andy's reviews, although perhaps weighted, are presented well.. & easier to watch than many others, who's voices just start to grate after awhile... (especially the American ones!)
I like Giles... He's really salt of the earth & enthusiastic enough to carry me along, through 20 minutes of gun waffle!
I'm not sure why but Canadian Mike from replica airguns gets annoying to me after a while.. Airsoft Mike, has a more listenable voice....
    It's all very subjective..
Some of the others mentioned above just don't grab my attention.. even UK airgunner with his 'whispering Bob Harris' dulcet tones is more attention grabbing!
But for some reason, I can watch Hickok 45 waffle on for hours about any gun... Ahh, the bottomless pit of the black hole of the internet!... Where did my life go!?
