1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I’m not sure it works that way. I understand what you are thinking but isn’t 90% of all human genetics shared in all of us? Specific gene mutations that are super high in the existing populations of different areas currently would be adequate to determine heritage of that person from that area, right?

Ofcourse i am being rather flipant. But do we assume we came from apes, and where did they come from, and when? Or did we come from adam and eve, and what country did they originate from and when?
I dont expect answers as such answers are disputed the world over.

Why not buy your parent's a kit for Christmas?
I bet you your result will not be 100% Northern European, it will have Asian or Near/middle Eastern in it, don't forget sea levels were very different thousands of years ago, man got to Australia before most of Europe!

The major draw back for women is that they can only trace their maternal line...that's why I am waiting for my wife's brother to come over from Russia and getting him to do a test, her family live in a part of Siberia where the indigenous people have slanted eyes but her family look 100% western European, I'm guessing Germanic.

I am, like you, a big fan of Dawkins’ work. He says man is not descended from apes but that man is an ape.

It’s hard to talk about a genesis of humanity because life exists on a continuum without clearly defined starts. Doesn’t the evidence suggest Africa is the original home of the human?

Those links seem to say that direct lineage cannot be reliably chased but that general area genetic makeup can be determined.

There is a big difference between the fact that I am related to Richard III compared to whether or not I am descended from him.

Sort of, but China are claiming that crown now after finding some fossilised teeth that they believe are thousands of years older than the African remains & I think similar claims have been made from finds in Greece & the Balkans. The trouble is, all this is based on the oldest evidence that has been found to date & who's to say that even older remains may soon be found somewhere like Australia ?

Is it something that is knowable in principle then?

The thing about Neanderthals, that I’m interested by, means that Homo sapiens (in Europe) are kind of hybrids so presumably the genesis of Neanderthals must also be considered as a part genesis of human beings?

I’m just gobsmacked by the thought that there was a time with two species of humans on this planet.

I could be wrong but I thought there used to be several species of human, not just two. Weren't there some pygmy type people around at the same time ?

Edit: The pygmies were called hobbits & lived in Indonesia & there were also Denisovans from Asia, so that's 4 species of humans http://www.bbc.com/earth/story/20150929-why-are-we-the-only-human-species-still-alive

You are quite correct, there have even been some species of Human that scientists know existed despite never seeing any remains, because Modern Human's in some areas have a type of DNA not found anywhere else that has been passed down!

DNA testing is in it's earliest stages and genealogist's work with other professionals on things like sea levels, where water sources were for human existence etc to work out the most feasible route of Human diaspora, it is this work that will hopefully lead to more advances in our knowledge, but to knock it as a con, is like knocking all early forms of all science...it has start somewhere.

That's my take on it as well. They could come out with anything and you couldn't really dispute it. The bloke on the telly ad says he's part Viking. How many samples of Viking dna did they have to compare it against? Good money spent on old rope in my opinion.

It's the scientists that aren't involved in taking money off people who want their DNA traced that are saying it's a con though, not just me & a couple of others here. But, to be fair, I think science should be questioned as a lot of it is based on theory & it's an interesting subject, but not one that I'm convinced about at the moment.

If the Big Bang Theory is correct then surely every living thing on this planet has it's origins in space ?

The big bang theory is now proven totally false because of further experimentation in the double slit experiment, Quantum entanglement and Quantum teleportation, the results of which are undeniable. If you want me to further elaborate then i'll explain in Lehman's terms on the forum, just say the word.
Einstein and his teachings are mostly wrong, so are professor Hawkings. The real truth about who we are and what the Universe consists of is being kept from the general public and it's kept from us for a reason.

Please do press on Nav, I find this totally enthralling, it might help us if we don't have to wade through all the trash out there and get our teeth into evidence that has already been sifted out and has some substance to it

All Science should be questioned, it is by trying to answer questions that we learn more, I didn't look at buying a DNA kit as a con, but more like taking part in an experiment to learn more, some people give money to the church.
Would I rather take medicine that has been developed by scientists or rely on someone praying for me..I know which I would choose.
