1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Many enthusiasts will still be in denial of the conclusions, and I fear there is little to no hope for those suffering extreme confirmation bias that allows them to dismiss such a well detailed and reasoned set of conclusions

Of course your mileage may vary, and objects in the rear view mirror may appear closer than they are ;)

They've been here for years, world governments know about them . The trouble for them is that they can't acknowledge or outright deny there distance. It's far easier to leave us guessing. I can't really imagine that in the vastness of unending space that we are the only life force to develop.

Do you have any citation and/or actual evidence to support this assertion?

Nota Bene: I am not doubting what you believe, but applying scientific method to establish the facts (as we understand them to be at this juncture in time)

ETA: I agree that to assume we are the only life in the universe is an arrogant and probably stupid conclusion to reach (but as yet there is no evidence I have seen to confirm this)

Yes. Do you have any proof that they have been here for years and that world governments know about them? Other than youtube vids and other conspiracy websites that is. Real proof. As for your other part of the statement, yes quite possibly there is life out there in the vastness of the universe but to say they are here and that governments know is not true unless you can provide scientific proof of which you will fail to do so.

You are making a statement of fact just like these Flat Earthers who also say they know the Earth is flat but cannot provide any proof whatsoever. Science fiction is great and has a lot to answer for. Loved the X Files myself.

You're right of course, I don't have any first hand proof. All I have to go on is the many many reports buy all manner of people. Granted that some of them may not be reliable but others, such as the infamous alleged encounter at the military base in Suffolk was witnessed and sworn as accurate by high ranking, educated intelligent personnel.
And again I can only assume that if Governments had concrete proof they wouldn't want the likes of us knowing about it. It would upset the apple cart I think.

I think if more people had high definition cameras and recording equipment in their pocket on a daily basis we’d see much more evidence , until that day we just have to take peoples words for it.

    Did you watch the video?

Here's another that could be an explanation ...

IE: That the Govt will test things, probably without consent or prior knowledge that could give the same sort of result that you have cited above

Nota Bene: I am not saying that is the case just one possibility that could lead to such an outcome

Anyways, isn't it nice to believe in things even if you have no proof. Science claims to have the answer to everything, no problem so large that science can't explain or provide an answer for. Wouldn't it be nice if there were aliens, Lock Ness monsters, tooth fairies and Father Christmas .

Mentioned this before but some time ago a guy working on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico reported seeing a triangular shaped UFO. They poo pooed his sighting and he told them he had been trained by the military to identify aircraft for them, still got dismissed. Fast forward a few years and they revealed the B2 stealth bomber.
Most UFO's are experimental aircraft that they don't want the public to know about.

No doubt you're right but I can't help but think it doesn't make us any happier. At one time we thought that rainbows were bridges for the G**s, twinkling stars were chinks in the floor of the heavens and the sun was pulled by a charity through the sky. Of course now we know different, but it doesn't make me any happier or more contented.

    Agreed ...

.. Science is simply the current state of knowledge at the moment (it is constantly revised as new information/data becomes available)

Well it certainly appears to. Science claims to able to solve all our ills, from pollution to illness "follow the science" Science is the current religion. We have come to believe that we are masters of all, and if we're not, well it's only a matter of time before science provides the answer.
