1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I think we can all agree that anyone sending an air rifle away for repair and not including contact details must be a right tit but in this instance that is not the case. The OP is asking advice as to what to do because of no response from Airtech.

It'll probably mean getting in the car and going to Carl's place and retrieving it perhaps if its been 10 months since he sent it.

Ive been to see Carl a couple of times and had somethings done and he is a propper engineer, quality work is done.

On the flip side i texted him multiple times and no reply so gave up on him, it was concerning the anti bounce hammer he makes which is a great idea but i was finding was knocking the exhuast valve location circlip off, so i came up with my own basic short stroke hammer just as efficient and not as sharp as carls hammer bottoms out on the delrin as its designed to do.

If thats what it came to due to carls lack of response to various attempts to contact him i would be pretty p****d that it had to come to that!

I would personally feel like i had been ripped off, even defrauded as i sent my rifle off to get worked on and then heard nothing back for 9 months!!! Whis the one out of pocket here! Id be fuming!

I would look into the ins and out of this from a legal perspective as its bang out of order and pursue it that way.

I really do hope the OP gets his gun back i really feel sorry for him.

And to airtech, you really need to book your ideas up as your going to rapidly lose customers with this never ending cycle of unhappy customers who share the same problem.

And in this day and age with the internet its easy for your name to get tarnished and for that to have a detrimental effect on your business.

I for one would not use his services.

As a problem solver ...The glass is the wrong size.

Bullseyerich fellow Reading resident (What club?). I have a airtech that I love and bought 2nd hand but now needs servicing. Out of interest.

How long did you have to wait before airtech would accept it?

    What turnaround did airtech suggest?

Bass fishing august/september/October so have a window.

I think it's only considered theft if he meant to permanently deprive the owner of their property, I'd put money on it that's not the case.

Not very inspiring though, When JB tuned my 3 guns they were each done in a week or less and John was on the phone asap asking me to collect - that's the sort of service that brings in repeat custom and he services/tunes many guns, I've yet to hear a complaint about waiting.

He should just stop accepting work until he has cleared his backlog.

i have an air tech ultra that needs a service and seal change, given the repeated bad press he gets I sent it to A&M. Rifle serviced and sent back to me within a week. Never hear a bad word about A&M or XTX, shame Darrin is not tuning anymore

this is why the guy is waiting 9 months. sorry but Carl should NOT have done your gun. He has people who have contracted to have their guns tuned. Then Carl does drop ins where a guy such as you ( or anyone not picking on you ) pop along and get a service while you wait. His work is beyond reproach but he cannot permit queue jumping under any circumstances. In this case if recent it may well be the case the original poster has such a delay because your gun along with others was done.... I think his work is superb.... luckily i can tune my own guns but either way I wouldn't wait more than a few weeks.

As for the Original question as of the last week Car is alive and well at home not abroad and no plans to go

yup.... one such tuner here.... but I'd Never ever do a tune while you wait service. that is not the way to test any changes to a gun.... and with a queue of customers piling up to put their jobs on hold while some guy has a while you wait job is insulting and immoral

I posted chrony results a while back and it was suggested the reg was an issue. Also feel its randomly preforms badly across different fills. The reg I believe is his so own build hence back to him? Also the Bolt jumps and I've bent the mag lock. I've replaced the valve seal.

Ultra SE with 270 cylinder and reg. Tuned spring 2016. Bought June 2016.

I cannot condone the seeming lack of communication from Carl, it has never been good and I do feel he has always taken work on despite being already full rather than turning work away due to being busy.

There are a few things here though ......

    1. To the OP and GSX200, MK/ Coventry to Telford is hardly the other side of the world ... why have you not been to see him? I'm pretty sure I suggested this last time the GSX200 complained, why have you not been to retrieve your gun? You are just as bad as Carl in my book.

    2. I have had work done by Carl to great effect and I have used his life time warranty to have the same gun upgraded. All done within given timescales, no issues however, I badgered him with calls and texts, I agree we shouldn't have to do this but there you go.

    3. Of the times I have been to his house he has always had (as has been mentioned previously) couriers turn up with actions, not stocks and actions, with no details at all. If someone is stupid enough (and let's face it they are) then what is Carl to do? Some don't even have return details.

We are talking here about items costing hundreds if not thousands yet people Willy nilly just hand things over or post and expect everything to be tickety boo.

While I will not condone Carl's response or lack of, some of you on here and other forums need to be whiter than white.

I took Paulairgun's advice when looking for a tuner to tune my R10 Elite and apart from the difficulty I had with getting Carl to respond I otherwise had excellent service but I was prepared to get off my arse and badger him.

I agree we shouldn't have to do this but there you go.

If someone has not had their gun returned or any communication the first thing i would do is get onto Carl before commenting on here, yet commenting on here is far easier than sorting out an issue it seems.

Bottom line though is Carl should be turning work away and not be doing some jobs before other jobs and people should be prepared to get off their backsides than wait 9 months or 2 years, sorry no sympathy.
