1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Ok some of you guys replied to my post about the posibility of having a meet up i now have a bit more information on how it would work.

It would be spread over a weekend with a couple of competitions for example an ft comp on the saturday and a hft on the sunday the rest of it would be fun shooting the winner of each competition would get a trophy and bragging rights on the forum. There would also be a raffle with the proceeds being donated to andy for the running of the forum. It's a chance to put names to faces have a laugh and spend a few days with like minded people.

It's all still in the investigation stage at the moment nothing has been planned i've just made some enquiries.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on it any suggestions even if it's too far for you to travel feel free to offer your comments even those that can't come can still enter the raffle and be involved with the event.

Once again can we please keep this one on topic ( i know i'm as bad as a1 )

    Thanks guys

I bothered to post, why can't anyone else ?

I like the idea very much as previously stated, can't believe this thread got F A replies, I appreciate distance is a problem, but jamjon's thread deserves more replies than mine.
Maybe a more central location might be a better choice ?
I do understand your physical wellbeing jamjon, in the same boat myself, so come on guys and MOO, tell us what you think,
A1's got so much to say and he hasn't posted on this thread, his travelling would be a problem that I understand, so come on get tapping your keyboards

Anyone who has never organised or been involved with this sort of thing can't possibly foresee the down sides. It is an awful lot of work and there are a lot of disappointments along the way. The main one being people who say they'll come and then for what ever reason don't...I posted this last time.
On the plus side, if it does happen, I can guarantee those that do go will remember it for many a year as one of the happiest events they've taken part in.
This would be a long way for me and at current travelling costs would be excessive, something which no doubt many would have to consider.

OK jamjon, one of the first things you need to start doing is to try and locate local places for people to stay overnight. Areas to camp, B&B's, motels etc. Get prices, make sure they'll accept people with guns and try to negotiate group discounts. Make sure catering is available suitable for all and again see if groups can be accomodated at discounts. You'll have to tell everyone you ask that it's provisional, but lowest quote gets the business.
Start a spread sheet to keep track of those who say they're coming and those that give back word and communicate privately...but keep the forum up to date with the overall picture.
Try to work out whether people can share transport if they live close together or if people can pick up others along the way, that cuts cost tremendously and also helps those that haven't got transport of their own.

That's fine jamjon, but how many people do you think will be arriving by bus, train or plane especially if they are camping. My guess is that if people are going to come it will be by car. Some won't want to camp, I certainly wouldn't, so other forms of accommodation needs offering and if people can car share, whether it be because they are local to each other, or because the driver is passing the home of another enroute, this is something to think about as well.

I think if i came then i wwould wont to camp. But i can understand buzz, Maybe jamjon if you were to ask a hotel for a discout for people to stop there if you got a sertan number of people to ues there hotel then thay would give you a discount.

Aso mate how about getting some forum t-shirst made up to advertise the forum wilhe were there these could be sold toi the members and any profit could be given to andy to help pay any costs it take to run the forum. Just an idea mate Have a think about it
    Cheers

Thats easy enough as my mother in law has a t shirt printig business but it will be a question of numbers as even with a good discount i would need to sell enough to make it finacially viable as far as the hotel thing goes it would be dificult to arrange anything without knowing how many people would need hotels and how many would be bringing guns with them and if they were bringing shotguns as this would need to be cleared with the hotel
