1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    Hi,

I am looking for some advice really, as I want to purchase a new .177 under lever air rifle, suitable for a ‘lefty’, which doesn’t require too much effort to cock.

The design of the Air Arms Pro Sport really appeals to me, but the price unfortunately doesn’t!
I do like the fact that the cocking lever on these is completely hidden though, but I can’t seem to find any other similar models. Surely there must be some around?

Can anyone recommend an alternative please, bearing in mind that it must be suitable for a left-handed shooter?

    Thanks

P.S. If it makes any difference it will be used for target shooting, both inside and outside, at 10 to 50 metres.

The only rifle I'm aware of with the same design as a Pro Sport is the classic BSA Airsporter...one of these, fully restored & " supertuned" perhaps ?

I’d handle one first, they’re a bit of a lump.

If a hidden cocking lever and the similar rotary piston design... Maybe a side-lever Diana 48/52?! I didn't handle any tho but read something interesting and might that would open a window for you... And not sure if lefty stock available either.... :(

It's a heavy beast but lots of ppl tamed it to a very accurate gentleman by detuning it a little bit... If what you got is already a UK standard 12fpe (shoots 11ish), it's all good already...

I found the Pro Sport whilst not hard to cock it was quite an uncomfortable process due to the position of the pivot.

I found I cock it comfortably and easy by squat down with one leg, place the rifle vertically and stock on the lap then cock it....

Not easy to cock with ordinary pose....

Nothing I've handled and shot comes close to the pro sport.

If it helps I've seen an almost new Pro Sport sell for about £450 on this forum ...older ones for £350 ish..

Have you thought about placing a wanted ad for one ?

Thanks for your reply, but I think I would prefer something brand new!

The Diana 48 is a monster, heavy but laser accurate. I have one and it’s the only .177 springer I have, kept really for sentimental reasons as owned from new bought in 1989 I think, getting old and memory gone :( But Diana springer rifles are extremely good, the trigger on mine i feel is even better than a weihrauch rekord, but that’s me and my rose tinted specs :) I’ve seen model 48s new going for £440-490 when you can find them. When I bought the Diana it came with 2 springs from factory, one for sub 12ftlb the other would produce 23ftlb, no idea why 2 came.

That's a 'beast' as you mentioned and as a magnum springer, shooting in full power is not easy to control, especially for a 177 caliber ~

But for its weight and size, detuned and rested, all I read were about how accurate it is~

You can just get the Pro Sport's brother. A TX200 in lefty. It doesn't have the hidden under lever, but it is the same rifle and easier to cock. Also a bit easier on the wallet.

The chances of finding a left hand PS are about nil. Only a few made and I've only ever seen one for sale.
Action only and have a stock made is about your only chance.

Air Arms are producing them in walnut for lefties now for a cool £899.00.

    Bargain.

I was about to mention that, but is is quite a long way outside my price range! ;)
It is looking as if I might have to go for something like the TX200 unfortunately!

If you like the clean lines of the ProSport why not buy a quality break barrel instead?

A hard question to answer really, but I just prefer the style and the idea of an underlever rather than a break barrel.

I have a feeling they weren't listening to U.K. shooters when they changed the stroke length to FAC spec without offering the original as an option for sub 12 ft-lb users. :(

Yes it's a shame. After years of being asked for a leftie Pro Sport they finally do it - just before a big ass price hike.

To think it is unfortunate to have a TX is something new. If it is that bad a choice look for something else perhaps. The standard of 2nd hand rifles sold on here is very high especially if you buy from someone with a good sales record.
    Good luck with your search
