1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I see the sales section is still going strong.
How are people getting to a PO or meeting? Surely they are out of the conditions of the lockdown.
Should the mods temporarily suspend to prevent irresponsible actions?

I think DPD do a pick up service and they’re still working. Had a delivery from them this morning!

    See your point though. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Dunno about dropping off but parcels are being left on doorsteps and signed for by drivers/postmen

My local shop is also a post office so I post stuff when we need to get bits, two birds with one stone

Post offices are to remain open as they are deemed to be essential. Assuming that a trip to the post office to drop off a parcel coincides with a necessary visit to a supermarket etc. I see no issue :)

I'm lucky that my local co-op takes in hermes parcels, and my post office is just down the road so I wouldn't need to flaunt the lockdown rules if I went for a walk to drop some bits off.

My local post office is a WH Smiths. HTF would I define that as essential? Also my wife would call me a tosser and not let me go.
I see valid points though if your PO is in a big superstore etc.

There's a Greggs next door but I deem them as a greater health hazard than CV!
There is a Reeves around the corner however...........

I still think my mrs would frown upon it though for unnecessary exposure and clogging up essential postage. Although what is essential postage? Keeping sane? I'm positive the NHS don't use the PO for getting medical supplies around.

The NHS uses it to send all the cancellation letters out though.

It’s been talked about but I can’t see the point of making a rule we have no chance of policing. I, for one, haven’t got the time or resources to set up roadblocks around Louth. :D

Posting stuff should be OK, lock down wise, but if parcels are being left on doorsteps then maybe not a good idea to post guns. Maybe temporarily closing the sales forum would be an idea.

plenty of people on here have already said they have no intention of complying with the rules of the lockdown, because they don't want to, they think they're special or what they do is special - it's wrong, it's selfish and it's irresponsible but there's nothing the mods can do about what we get up to in real life, it's not on them

given the highly responsible attitudes to shooting shown normally here I am surprised and it makes me think that when it comes down to the actual act of shooting if they're being this irresponsible in real life for the lockdown, only a fool would believe them when they say they practise responsible shooting

posting stuff is not okay as it does not come under the four exceptions from staying at home

saying that, it's clear nothing will stop some people because they really are special

I do think, now, we should not post anything non essential.

It’s not just you getting anything, it’s you touching and wrapping something, and you could be contagious, then putting your parcel out there for probably about 6 other people to touch.

I wholeheartedly agree. Granted, it will impact on enjoyment and quality of life but when dealing with a virus without a vaccine or cure - it's a small price to pay. All contact outside your home should only be essential.

Still a hell of a lot of old folks (for now anyway) that still use letters. Try asking a 80/90 year old what his/her email address is - a lot of them wont have a clue what you are talking about so we still have to send letters out.

Face to face sales can still be conducted without being too close, a member mentioned they completed a sale as the buyer collected the gun from the boot and left the money in there for it.
Someone may sell a gun or accessory due to necessity, I don't think blocking sales is a good thing as long as people conduct sales correctly

sales is something that people taking part in have to consider, if some one with the virus goes to the post office to post anything they are acting irresponsible towards others, if some one chooses to go to the post office who doesn't have the virus they should use the 2 meter rule the same as you would at a supermarket.
all should consider that going outside of your home will be a risk if you don't conform to the 2 meter rule. but if this lasts 3 months as they say it will, then at some point we will all have to go outside to purchase food essentials at some point and keep to the 2 meter rule.

individual choice as to what they do considering there personal circumstances regarding the virus.

With the absolute greatest respect buddy, there is no greater necessity than to preserve life. Meeting up to buy and sell air gun stuff is absolutely not essential. Posting stuff is not essential.
