1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

You'd think so wouldn't you Mike. Curious how the question of using the AGF name never cropped up in the six years we have used and promoted it.

Mick it sadly looks like you are being told by a member of the mod team you shouldn't have been using the forum name (his personal opinion) but posted from a staff account.

I think Im going to step back from this conversation and the forum now,, I seem to have developed a sickness in my throat

    This wasn't in question?

You are not answering the question?

I asked a question, not that the name AGF should not have been used Scott, buy the way all my posts are from the same place so just what are you implying?

I agree with @audi swift and would rather this thread was now moved elsewhere.
I've lost count of the amount of these type of weekends I've been to over the years (not just agf) and last weekends was one of the best I've been to. Well organised, great venue, superb hospitality, a big lump of cash for charity and a better mix of decent folk you couldn't meet.
The whole weekend was a credit to all those who attended, of which the vast majority are active members of this forum.
Instead of reading about that, people are reading and following a thread with bickering and people cherry picking phrases, it's putting a negative spin on what was an extremely successful event.

I think we as mods were shocked to be honest JD. We had hitherto no inkling of the resentment felt by some members. Hopefully we can resolve this issue.

Seconded...having put "events" on over the years I appreciate all the work & all the effort it requires to make things run smoothly & keep everyone happy..the fact that guy's had a good time & a big lump of cash was raised for a charity was a nice bonus & testament to the generosity of everyone who contributed.

    I don't see Milek's post's as resentment...just "questioning"...no particular malice intended i'm sure...the AGF & airgun shooting has been presented in a good light...most members appreciate this..:thumb:

This thread started off in such a very positive spirit. Thanking and congratulating everyone who took part.

But, after jollities of page 2, It now seems to be buried in the dirt of animosity. :(

Is it worth attending the AGF meet again if this is the outcome.

I'd like to think the AGF meet will continue...we are a bunch of airgun enthusiasts that generally get on together...some guys are members of many forums..some are newcomer's to the world of airguns...some are guy's banned from other site's...some only reside on this forum..I think this forum was spawned/inspired by Andy (the owner) who presumably wanted an independent forum NOT funded by the trade.

There are lot's of airgun shooting weekends around the UK every year...something for everyone...but the AGF weekend is specifically for ..us....just us...it's special & been successful for years...run by member's who give up their time & energy for nowt ...we all know who they are...thousands of pounds have been raised for charity by AGF members proudly attending these meet's..friendship's have been forged...information exchanged...new guy's welcomed...kid's included..all under the banner of AGF....we appreciate the mod's/admin who oversee this forum & ensure it's policed correctly...they do this in their own time too...so we are ALL working together for the benefit of our airgun site...but I have to agree with Milek..it would have been nice to see the site owner showing some kind of "thanks" for all those involved with running these weekends on behalf of his forum.
