1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

    Good morning all.
I'm giving some serious thought about attending the forum meet this year as its not that far from me.
I went to a different type of forum meet last year with my sons, more as an excuse for a bit father/sons time than anything else. Tent, few beers, weekend of p1sstaking, its all good stuff.
My only fear is that we aren't exactly hardened air gunners. I used to shoot years ago but these days its more a hobby I'm starting to get back into since my days of football or climbing have had to come to an end (falling down Ben Nevis seems to do damage to your back but that's another story haha)

So my worry is whether we would be out of our depth as all I do now is go to the range now and again shot some targets and spinners, my youngest lad (17) comes when he's not got anything else better to do. I've never shot a comp in my life or hft. The range I go to organize these in the summer but as yet I'm still a hft virgin.
Will we stick out like sore thumbs?
Obviously we dont know anyone, will that be a problem?
What happens at the meet exactly?
    Is there a timetable?
    How many comps are there?
Do I need to have to be able to shoot a flys dangly bits from 80yards using open sights?
What's the craic with the full camo, do I need to wear it 24/7 and even sleep in it?

Obviously the last two are tongue in cheek but the rest is serious.
Thanks for taking the time to read through my waffle

Its a social event, where anyone with a common interest in Airgunning is more than welcome, whatever their abilities.Theres one main competition and a few other fun events throughout the weekend.
I attended my first one on my own,was instantly made to feel welcome and had a fantastic time. And have attended them all since. No doubt there will be more advice to follow shortly from other members who have attended.
    Regards,Stu

From all the previous meets that I have organised (five) then the itinerary is usually something like this.

    Friday

Meet & greet, pitch tents, get fire going, barbecue, sit around fire and drink/chat/take the pee. Claim that tomorrow you will be king of the comps.

    Saturday.

    Zero.
    30 Target HFT competition.
    Long Range competition
    Seek & Destroy competition.
    Best Grouping.
    Medals
    Raffle
    Bring & Buy
Shoot and shoot and shoot some more
Repeat all of Fridays social events.

If these events were for hard-core HFT shooters I would no longer get involved, I can do this on any Saturday or Sunday. These events are purposely staged for the AGF members to get the most out of meeting the people we engage with every day.

not a lot is taken serious at the meets apart from 2 people in the main shoot ( mick & mark) who will both get their backsides kicked so that don't matter :p
get yourself along we are very friendly and welcoming most people come for the laugh and chat etc.
everyone was new to the meets at 1 point but once there you will think you have know everyone for years

1 quick reminder is that all people coming have to be confirmed and paid by the 4th of April

It was my first AGF meet last year and it was a blast. so much so i am involved in organizing this years. I can guarantee you won't feel left out as they are a great bunch of guys (and girls) you can put sillygarry in which section you want.
As for not having rifles then nothing to worry about as some members have several but don't know how to use them.

All i can say is its really 80% banter and beer and 20% guns so come down and have a great weekend.

when me and Ann went to the last meet we were total newbies, only knew 2 people from the AAOC so were totally green to an AGF meet, all I can say is TURN UP, join in to whatever comp you want, they are not compulsory (but when you see the standard of shooting from some you will realise that no way will you come last), have a go with other peoples guns (ask first tho), drink lots of beer sitting round the fire at night, bring some cheese (can`t remember who it was but there was a real cheese fan at the last meet), join in the scotch egg throwing contest, trip over guy lines on the tents on the way to bed, or, if you are really hard core stay up all night, it does not matter , you will still enjoy the weekend, I`m totally gutted that I can`t make this one
