1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

I'm looking for an airgun for ratting and the odd bit of plinking and nothing more,so not looking to spend big bucks. PCPs never interested me anyway being truthful..
Anyway popped into my local RFD and took a shine to an old Anschutz break barrel.

I have a rimfire and a shotgun, but this would be my first airgun and being honest I don't know a big amount about them. So basically what I'm asking is would it be worth getting? It's in great condition, but my worry is if spare parts were needed are they readily available with it being an older gun? Or does anyone know of any other issues they may have?

    Cheers!

A Weihrauch would be good, but I actually haven't seen many over here in NI. Certainly no for that price new!. Saw a S/H HW90 for £445! Struggle to justify paying that as my few months old rimfire with an upgraded scope to what was originally on it cost less. May not be the case but to me it seems air rifles aren't as popular over here as on the mainland, with the exception of PCPs. Probably down to the fact any air rifle has to be on an FAC over here.

Took a shine to the Anschutz partly down to manufacturers reputation for quality and accuracy, but also because you don't see many of them around these days. Just don't want to be getting it if it turns out to be a headache and ends up as an ornament lol So any previous experience/ advice any of you guys could give would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to recommend other guns too!

Thanks! I tried to do some research on them and read there was issues with pellet size? apparently German made pellets are slightly narrower than UK? is this true or BS lol. Is 9-10ft/lbs enough to get the job done for rats at say 25-30yds?? a I said I'm new to airguns and dont know much about them. theyre looking £100. I know its very little money in terms of buying a gun, but to me its a fair chunk to lose if it isn't up to the job for whatever reason.

I would think it will be an anshcutz 335. I had one years ago and it was very good accuracy wise but it was a bit low powered ie about 9.5 ftlb, maybe a bit long for a ratting rifle though.

in a distant galaxy, far far away ....... actually
cant comment on that rifle mate, but for £100 or so, look at the hatsan mod 55s (.177) or the mod 60s (.22). identical rifles, except for cal.
for the money, you cant go wrong, and you would recoup most of the outlay back if you later sold it. can be easily tuned a bit, but probably shoots about 10.5ftlb out of the box
