1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

The bickering on here recently is now wearing thin.
Can't it be let go now and just wait and see?
If he wants to come back let him, if not, well thats his decision.
Keeping on with the sarcastic comments isn't going to help, and will only drive people away as they'll get the wrong impression of this forum.
I know I don't know the full facts, and to be honest I don't want to; all I know is I'm a bit tired of it all now, and would like to see an end to it

As you've said Ken, you don't know the full facts and as you've also said you don't want to, I won't tell you. As for it wearing a bit thin, if you don't want to be upset by it, don't read it.

There's a good point here Buzz, can you see? This is a public forum, anyone can read what we post. I think we (me not included) should all shut up about this a1 thing to be quite honest - does anyone care? This forum needs more regular members, how do you think we're going to get any if all we talk about is this a1 thing? Some are glad he's gone, others aren't, but at the end of the day we've voiced our opinions so it's time to grow up and move on.

a1 has decided at his own free will to no longer frequent this forum,
during his time on this forum he has upset a few people i being one.
but im not one to hold grudges and have laid my differences with a1 to rest.
what has been done has been done, what has been said , has been said,
so why dont we just stop posting on here about a1 and just get on with things?
im not one to agree with cog but on this occasion i do,
any newcomer to this forum will think its full of argumentitive(excuse spelling) tossers!

i agree with all the above comments, and as you say, if I don't want to read about it I don't have to.
I enjoy the forum, not that I post very often, but drop in quite regularly and would hate to see it fold up like some others I've known recently (country sports one's , getting too political)
Everyone here as a mutual interest, ie airgunning, so lets get back to that and continue being a friendly place to read, ask questions, and get good advice
Thanks for understanding where I'm coming from
    Ken

OK...I'm not going to try and justify myself, but correct me if I'm wrong in the following. Anything that's been posted has not been in the airgun related sections, it's been in the areas specifically designed for either general chatter or the soap box "get it off your chest" section and therefore shouldn't affect any airgunning questions or answers and those are functioning as normal. Any questions are still being answered in a proper manner and new people are getting a more than warm welcome.
I don't think your assesment of "argumentitive tossers" (which you got 10/10 for incidentally) Rockabilly, was either warranted or accurate and certainly didn't improve the image of the forum, despite it being your stated aim to do so. To your comment of "does anybody care" Cog, I have to say Yes...I care and I'm handling this in a way I believe will get the results I'm aming for, but as you've heard umpteen times in statements "as it's an onging case, I'm not at liberty to divulge further information at this time".
One final point Ken, you're right when you say we all have a mutal interest, but it means nothing without mutual respect and it's the lack of the latter that started this whole thing in the first place.

Spot on coggy ! Time to leave this subject well alone, it's getting a bit tedious now. If this forum is to grow then the loss of an individual should not be the main topic of conversation. Yes I posted my thoughts but that was days ago and that was it as far as I was concerned, surely we have more interesting things to talk about than someone who get's the hump and throws his toys out of the pram. FFS move on
