1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

So sorry Nigel and for some reason I missed this thread until now. My wife and I have both had health issues this year (mine minor, hers more serious). I can only imagine what you have gone through. My thoughts are with you my friend. It will take time, but you will get stronger. :thumb:

Thanks everyone, I haven't felt much like posting or shooting for that matter. (Those that PM'd me will get a reply once I can)
The week & a bit after she died was a flurry of trying to sort all the paperwork side of things out, I even ended up buying the Motability car we had as its only 9 months old with 6000 miles on it and it was what we chose together. Also going through Probate but its nothing to complicated & due to Carolyn's very organised setting up of accounts in the first place easy to collate.
I went back to work on Monday to try and restore a bit of normality, was hard on the first day as everyone wants to talk to you and despite being a talkative soul most of the time I just wanted to get on with things.
Carolyn has been transferred down to South Gloucestershire where the funeral will be on the 21st October (yes I know its a long way off but that's how its panned out)
My . daughter Daisy started back up @ Liverpool University Veterinary School this week so I took her out for a meal on the Saturday, its the coming back home and remembering Carolyn isn't here that takes some getting used to.

The funeral is pretty much all planned just a few details to sort, the funeral director has been superb but he did say how mentioning Carolyn's family name seemed to open doors & get things done very quickly.
I had told him for me it was like marrying into the Mafia without the violence!

As the weather for this weekend looks very iffy I might try a bit of indoor plinking just as a distraction & back in August the company bought me a PARD NV008 for my 25 years service award, I've set it up but have yet to use it in anger.

So good to hear from you, Nige. It sounds to me that Carolyn would be proud of how you're getting on with dealing with this toughest of times. Keep going buddy. We're all going to be thinking of you on 21st Oct, my friend.

I don't know your real name TR158 but I'm still having those moments almost every day be it a bit of music or someone I meet that didn't know she had died, it takes it out of you to explain what we had been through in the 37 years leading up to her final 7 weeks & then the final 7 weeks was something I hope nobody else has to go through (though sadly I guess many of us will)

I feel like I have been neglecting you all after the support you have given me :(
At the moment I am concentrating on the funeral a week on Monday so please forgive me as nothing seems that important at the moment.

The amount & sincerity of the cards + messages I've received is truly humbling and testament to the positive effect Carolyn had on people, for someone who had their life so cut down with MS she really left a mark :)

I'm still taking each day as it comes and as I've said to a few "You can't just forget 37 years together :( "

Well, my friend....it goes without saying all our thoughts are with you for tomorrow. Perhaps when the day is done and is no longer looming on the horizon you can take a breath and feel some kind of stability, hard as that seems to imagine.

Make it a day of celebrating someone who was wonderful.

    Kindest thoughts Nige.

Superb support from you all gave me the strength through yesterday with only one little wobble during the final piece of music (Song to the Siren)
Luckily as I was doing the tribute I had to put on my reading glasses so the assembled masses were a bit of a blur.
According to a 95 year old friend of Carolyn's parents it was the most heartfelt tribute he had ever heard and there were a lot of tears!
I’m staying down in the Cotswolds with Carolyn’s parents for the rest of the week so we can give each other support and I've been invited out every night of this week (so no chance of loosing any weight!)

The Poppy themed funeral was widely appreciated with a painted coffin and lots of colour, the reception afterwards was really nice & gave me a chance to catch up with so many people many who had travelled very long distances (Sri Lanka !!!)

    Having a quiet day today
