1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Bad news I'm afraid! to save me typing a whole lot of stuff I have a copy/paste from a chat with a group of our friends so apologies if it doesn't scan but I'm just so tired & emotionally drained :(

Thursday "Not a good day I'm afraid Carolyn had 2 incidents of restricted airways one this afternoon and another while I was there both times she was gulping for air and her saturation dropped into the 60% area

Each time it's the left lung but I guess it's because she leans to the left?

She is back on IV antibiotics and O2.

I just don't know how much more she can cope with as I can tell she's getting weaker each time."

Friday "Very ill now I was there all night as I was called in by the doctor and advised that its very serious.

She's on as much O2 as possible but still in a really bad way.

Just had a meeting with the doctors/nurses who are running out of options so they have the palliative care plan in place & I need to be aware this could be the end :(

Morphine driver pump set up and a Airvo High Flow O2 unit plus they are trying different combinations of antibiotics. She's still gasping for air though but she's not hooked up to a monitor at the moment so I don't know her saturation.

She's sleeping at last so the morphine seems to have relaxed her a bit. Breathing didn't look quite as laboured, so I'm hoping that some sleep might give her a bit of strength back. I have to realise she is on the max amount of oxygen possible and she's still working hard to breath.

I managed about an hour of sleep during the day today after being up for 28hrs straight through so I have bags on the bags under my eyes

Had a few episodes after the chest physios had been working on her today.

But amazingly she had her eyes open and managed to talk a bit. Earlier in the day they tried lowering the O2 but it didn't work.

But after an hour of us with her and me doing a bit of suction every time she coughed her saturation was 100% so they knocked back to O2 just before we left and it remained stable.

Breathing is obviously still a real effort as her chest is thumping up and down.

Her eyes are at least open some of the time but sadly have a really frightened look in them

The nursing staff can't believe what a fighter she is, having had the conversation 2 times with doctors about how long she had she has slightly improved.

Long long way to go though.

I know I've said it before mate, but remember to look after yourself too. It's easy to forget to do that at times like this.

I'm afraid I don't have any good news, this looks like its final.
This afternoon she had 3 more plugged lung incidents and the lead nurse was waiting for me as I arrived, the consultant said she is in such a bad way that any further intervention/treatment is going to cause her unnecessary suffering for only a delay of the inevitable :(
The majority of her treatment is being withdrawn and the sedation/pain relief is being increased.

Her parents are with her at the moment as I needed to come home and gather myself for her passing, we have been through all sorts of traumas together with us each supporting one another but this one is final I fear.
I would just like to thank everyone for the support on here as its helped me so much as I know a fair few of you are also struggling with the health of either yourself or your loved ones.
You are one special band of Brothers & Sisters never forget that.

My heart goes out to you, I've been on the other (medical) side of this many times and can assure you it's not undertaken lightly.
At least she is being kept comfortable, the drugs also alleviate anxiety.
Sorry it has come to this, so sorry for you both.

I've been with her all night. They gave her a boost sedative/morphine supplementary to the driver to help her sleep. Was a bit agitated around 7:30 but I think exhaustion has stopped that.
Very weak and each breath shakes the bed as she struggles to draw in enough.
Just had a meeting with the clinical team and its maybe days maybe hours Just trying to make her passing peaceful.

I'm in bits at the moment, 37 years together and so much we never got to do due to ******* MS she was the kindest most gentle person you could imagine to be handed such a s**t time over the years from her illness

I've spent years looking at some of the worst people in the world living long and happy lives while watching some of the most decent have to fight all manner of ills before being lost to us at a young age. And it's an impossible thing to be at ease with....never more than when one of those decent ones suffering is a treasured loved one.

    Be strong for her, Nigel.
