1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

Well done on taking down that scum.
If any one lashes out in A&E etc they should be banned from the NHS.

Sorry to bore you chaps but another update:
Arrived at the hospital just after 5pm after dipping out of work early, there is no way on earth she was coming home tonight, temp of 38.9C and a pulse of 113bpm!! Plus she could barely open her eyes and he speech was unintelligible.
Tried feeding her but she chocked on the 3rd mouthful of jelly & ice cream!
Sat with her for a couple of hours but I'm not even sure she knew I was there :(

Just as I was about to leave the male nurse (I now know he's called James) who got punched in the face last night came onto the ward with another patient from A&E as soon as he saw me he came over and shook my hand and then made a point of telling all the other nurses that me & another bloke(Stuart) had apprehended "Beth's" assailant last night. They all said I was brave o_O
I am not ashamed to say I couldn't hold back the tears when I said I have no Idea how they do their job in such s****y circumstances & with such dignity for crap pay and very little thanks!

Wishing your good lady wife a speedy recovery mate, and strength giving Karma inbound to you all. I agree that NHS staff are fantastic and its a b****y disgrace that they should be subjected to assault by some of the very people who they are trying to care for.

I sincerely hope that the POS that you and another 'restrained' was firmly and comprehensively battered, sorry, I mean restrained...

    Another update!
This morning while being fed some porridge she had another chocking incident and the nurse was sure she aspirated some food :(
The long and short of it is she is now on a respiratory ward nil by mouth and on oxygen nasally and a drip.
Now all this might sound bad but she is way more awake and talking all be it hard work as you can see she is labouring breathing and her temp is back to normal, not sure about BP or pulse but I could see her fight coming back :) she is one tough cookie given all she has gone through all these years.
And yet she never complains and always sees the positive side of life, how I don't know!

On the subject of assault I forgot to mention the old woman on the ward my wife was on last night she was deaf as a post but shouting at everything and everyone she was so demanding of all the nursing staff like a toddler with a temper tantrum to the point of swearing at them and even lobbing a beaker of hot coffee at one nurse across the room which did cover the poor girl in hot coffee, yet at all times they remained calm and caring no matter what was thrown at them.
I saw the nurse again today, who then informed me that my wife had been moved to the respiratory ward. I asked her if foghorn Lill had caused any more trouble, she looked blank until I mentioned the hot coffee, her reply was "you get used to it"
How many of us would willingly go to work to be treated like that!

Still fighting for breath they have upped her oxygen and are thinking of trying to draw off some fluid. They have also put her on stronger IV antibiotics & a high strength nebuliser. Her parents are on their way from South Gloucestershire as I type.

Its heartbreaking seeing her struggle so much for breath and when she does cough it sounds more like someone choking, there is a look of fear in her eyes I can tell she's distressed as she's frantically looking around and constantly clawing at the sheet :(

I hope your wife makes a full and swift recovery. On the subject of the old lady, that temper tantrum could well be dementia. It doesn't make it any easier to cope with but it could go some way to explaining her behaviour.

I did think this to be the case it was more that the staff just seem to have to deal with some pretty horrible behaviour and just shrug it off

Its so frightening to see someone you have been with for 37 years in such a state through no fault of her own :(

Massive improvement today lots of work done by the nurses in the last 24 hours has seen her really much better not fighting for breath.

Still some fluid on her chest but its clearing and they have dropped the oxygen to 30% from 40%

She's much more relaxed and like the woman I know.
Going to have to develop a strategy to prevent a reoccurrence
