1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

I'm thinking about selling the 4-12x50 that I currently have on my springer for something a little lighter, more basic and smaller but I'm struggling to find any within my budget.

I'm looking to spend, hopefully £100 without mounts, whether this be new or pre owned I'm not too bothered but I'm looking for something along the lines of a 4x32,4x40 or something with variable mag like a 2-7x32,ideally AO and if possible,a multi aimpoint reticle.

I've had a look at what Hawke have to offer but can only find an old listing for a 2-7x32 Airmax AO(is this still in production?), a Sport HD 2-7x32 AO,other than that I could only find Sport HD 4x32 or 4x40AOs,is there anything better than hawkes, within my budget?

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Any more than £100 would be more than the gun I'm planning to put it on :p

There have been a couple of gems recently for around your budget - a mate of mine bought a Simmons Whitetail Classic expedition 1.5-6x32 recently within your price point, and it's gorgeous.

The same mate replaced the Hawke 2-7x32 AO with the Simmons.

Can I ask why AO ?

The lower the magnification and the smaller a scope is, the less parallax error there is by definition.

Most small scopes will be pin sharp on low mag looking at your toes, out to infinity, whether AO or not.

I ran a 1.5-5x20 Simmons Whitetail Classic for ages of my HW95 and it was brighter than the vast majority of much bigger scopes commonly used - no AO and, sadly, for you, no mil dots, but blimmin lovely to look through and I wish I'd kept it

Would they be still crystal clear around the 7x point? Ideally a 2-7x32 or 40 with mildots would be perfect and if it's still going to be clear,AO won't be a problem.

I'll be shooting from 10-30 yard.

2 of us from kinver have just gotten one each, the bad first:
The focus is 100 yards and my OBJ was a right bitch to get undone and the locking ring is stuck fast so have to live with a 1.5mm gap from the end of the scope to the locking ring but the other chaps unscrewed fine.
There is no anti reflective coating on the lens.
The mounts, they are medium and its like the scope is on stilts.
    The good.
changing the focus down to around 35, with the zoom around 7, the depth of field is superb, seriously good.
Everything about the scope is robust and chunky, the finish is durable.
The Reticle, I love the way the mil is arranged a central dot, a break all the way round and then the mils branch off.
    I've since found this website:
    http://ant-supplies.co.uk/Pages/DovetailScopeRingsDoubleClamped.aspx
I've ordered a set of super low 30mm mounts :)

I note that although it's on eBay, it's from ..

It's worth pointing out that their stuff is often cheaper buying directly from their own web site.

So far,I'm still considering the Hawke 2-7x32 and the Hawke 4x40/32 AO as a new purchase, the likes of the Simmons will have to be bought second hand for them to still be in my budget,am I right?

    Any more suggestions?

    Hi Matty
I have just bought a mint boxed simmons 1.5-5x20 wtc for £75
For size/wieght/clarity/price i dont think there is anything better.
I know there is some difference in opinion regarding disparity between the Philippines and possibly later Chinese versions, but everyone i have owned has been consistent.
Cant beat them imo mate, there fantastic value for money and great glass
