1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. No longer allowed Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- We now do not allow political and religion threads anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section) unless Airgun related and they must be put in the Airgun related politics section..

Staff will not move posts for you if you put it in the wrong section – it will simply be deleted. You will then have to type it all out again and put it in the right place, so heed this warning.

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

I am starting to think that he is milking "so called threats" besides, why would a dog festival want him there in the first place?

He could hardly have expected a " Three cheers for a jolly good fellow" from all his lambasting of the shooting community. Has he never understood what the C in BASC means? This was also very badly times with regard the breeding season. Later in the year and it might have been a bit less contentious.

If you can read, actually read and comprehend the link in the OP;)
The morons making the threats were making them against the organisers of the festival rather than Packham:

Organisers of the Dogstival event in the New Forest said they were concerned about "the public's safety".

Packham has campaigned for measures to protect birds from being shot.

He said protesters had "bombarded" the organisers with abuse and had threatened to turn up dressed as birds covered in blood.

"The organisers have asked that I not attend due to a heinous amount of very unpleasant bullying from factions within the shooting fraternity," he added.

"They have been bombarded on Facebook and on their website, with a relentless barrage of unpleasant abuse."

I can read and comprehend perfectly well, but the fact of the matter is that the threats have been made because of Pwackham's actions and his continued denigration of the shooting community. Wonder if the organisers of the show are still liable for his appearance fee ?

All these threats are playing into his hands, he has a massive following of do Gooders now.

It's these stories the press love print, not the ones about the Farmers crops

Exactly, and the knobheads who have been making these threats be it on Facebook or anywhere else and hanging dead crows on his door or gate are doing the shooting community more harm than ever Packham or any other anti shooting body or individual can or will do. When the public read about such things happening it just makes them more sympathetic to his or any other anti shooting cause.
But alas the individuals who have been making these threats etc are to damn thick or stupid to realise the damage they are doing to shooting.
As i've said on numerous other occasions we have enough knobheads and pillocks amongst the shooting fraternity who by their actions and behaviour are doing a much better job of getting more restrictions placed on us than any activities of the antis.
And if more restrictions were to come these same individuals will probably be the ones that squeal the loudest/most despite the fact that they were partly or possibly mainly responsible for these restrictions. A case of " there's none so blind as those that refuse to see".

Perhaps he's a dog lover and dog owner and the fact that he's a well known TV personality where some programs on animals/wildlife are concerned and therefore may increase attendances at the show.

I don't much like Packam and much less the bias of the BBC however IF the report is to be believed i would distance myself from the sort of people making threats as far as possible, after all there are better ways to protest.

Isn't he reported to have said that he'd suggested a much later date and it was NE that jumped the gun? I don't like what has happened and hope things get sorted out asap but I like even less the behaviour of a minority of thugs who threaten people for doing what they believe in, and mocking his or anyone else's speech impediments is almost as bad.

Correct:) WJ and Packham had recommended keeping the GL to Jan 2020 to minimise incovenience to all and allow time for meaningful consultation. NE, DEFRA and politicians panicked and withdrew the GL instead for reasons known only to themselves. Given that NE were going to lose in court as their application of the GL was legally flawed thick people are blaming Packham for the fact that a Government Agency was not working to UK legislation. Presumably the same thickos would advocate witnesses to crimes being to blame for those crimes?

The threats are being made against Packham because NE and DEFRA pulled the GL after Packham and co suggested holding the GL open until Jan 2020- yeah right, that's rational and intelligent:rolleyes:

Did you miss the part that Packham was taking them to court and so they pulled the licences I think two days before the court case to avoid massive court/legal fees. If Packham was happy to let things stand until 2020 why take it to court.

    Regards
    Peter
