1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

50 cal  i can see the looks now on the range someone walking down placing little chalk blocks at 30y then you walk down at the side of them with a breeze block under each arm to carefully place at 30y :D

only over 12ft/ib i would have thought, not sure how fac would stand though

Do a youtube search for the Benjamin Rogue .357 if you want bigger, TeamWild did a review.

Not sure of the legality, but Higher calibre airguns over 12fpe would be available on FAC. They certainly sell the Daystate Wolverine 303 here in the UK as FAC, so i guess it doesn't matter what the calibre as long as it's on ticket.

Folks on the other side of the pond are getting 600ftlb+ out of big bore airguns.. IMO anything that can't be driven at more than 750-800ft/s is a waste of time, so for us that pretty much limits us to .177.

.30 at 12ftlb is an interesting proposition for the hell of it, but of absolutely no practical value as this video shows. At the velocity a 50gn, 12ftlb pellet is travelling at, upon hearing the muzzle report the rats have time to finish their cuppa and amble out of harms way before the pellet reaches them..

JSB also makes 77 grain .357 pellets. My Evanix throws them at around 950 fps :) You can easily reach 100 yards with them as they are not very wind sensitive. Of course bullets have much better BC and they give flatter or as flat trajectory while packing more punch at distance.

I have a .30 cal over in the USA. Its custom made by a Canadian Gunsmith, Sean Pero.
It zings 70 grain cast slugs at 900 fps for 180 ft/lbs. Make short work of coyotes and Hogs. 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards......mega!

As said above you can get a .50 cal air rifle but they are pretty pointless to be fair.
I Think a .25 would be the largest useable cal for sub 12 and thats a bit slow and has the trajectory of a house brick.
In FAC I just dont see a huge point either, I have .22 FAC air for taking out vermin at long range in places where I just can use a powder burner, But other than target shooting for fun what other use could you really justify for a .50 cal air rifle??

.50 is rather useful for hunting, people shoot deer, moose and even buffalos with those powerful bigbores. One of the lads here has .50 BMG barrel in his savage and he participates silhouette competitions with it, sprays some molten lead around when those chickens at 25M are hit. Although I must say that when we go past .357 it gets much harder to reach 900 fps while still retaining 5 shots with relatively even speed. It is also much easier to make .357 quiet than .45 or .50.
