1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

You should all receive a copy of this message by PM.

  5. Postings on Politics, Religion & Controversial Off-Topic Material

The majority of users do not want to read about these subjects and people have left the forum as a result of it – this is after all an 'Airgun' Forum. It’s all very well to say they don’t have to read it if they don't want to, but as most of us use the ‘New Posts’ button there is no easy way to avoid it.

All AGF staff members are in favour of people being able to discuss what they want, but we have to draw the line somewhere if it is upsetting other users. We don’t want to read about these topics either.

IMPORTANT- The discussion of politics and religion is no longer allowed anywhere on the forum (including the Adult section).  The only exception is if it's airgun related - they must be put in the Airgun Related Politics section..

We will not tolerate bullying or personal attacks, racism or any other offensive 'isms'. we will remove these topics from the forum, we will not give you an area where you can abuse each other. We will not hesitate to ban offenders.

My application was paper based where they ask you to put the calibre in imperial and metric, I just put .22LR. I think you could select .17 / 4.5 as 4.5 is closest. Any confusion you should be able to sort out during the visit.

It’s just .17hmr, nothing else .17 or 4.5 can be several centre fire calibres

Presumably you mean "online" application? a "herd" is a group of cows!

17 HMR is a cartridge, 4.5mm or 5.5mm are calibers, it's not the same thing.

Never having fully completed online before, the only time I tried was with a notification, the system was so full of bugs I gave up, so perhaps download the forms and complete them by hand and send in via recorded delivery.

Anyways it doesn't matter that much as good reason is good reason and you will be interviewed as to why you want to acquire whatever you want to acquire face to face, at that point you can explain.

Was that a school with a low standard of eductaion? or a school that taught bad things LOL!

The land authority is usually downloadable in associated forms or the like, not every applicant will require one so it's usually an add on.

well i used to be an under keeper about 30 years ago and to obtain a firearm then you had to prove a written permission of the farmer and the address of the farm concerned to the police and then the feo would visit the farm to consider it safe for the said calibur before they would consider your aplication..think times have changed a bit lol

Just put what you know to be right, the Lincs system is quicker but isn’t infallible as I Have found doing 1-4-1 variations....

You still have to put down on the application where you are shooting be it club, or permissions with contact details, same as referees

the only choices you have in .17 HMR are related to projectile weight and manufacturer.
an HMR is an HMR which is a rim fire cartridge and not a centrefire .17/4.5 cal.

I think they've probably done this because of cals like 308/7.62 & 223/5.56 but gone overboard with it, I had 7.62x51 on my licence & an rfd wouldn't let me buy a 308 off him until it was sorted, feo said "wtf"!

This was all over a Steyr ssg, but that'll fire anything nato can churn out.
The rfd was worried about a civvy worked not recognising the imp/metric system.
I think they're better off not going into it to deep as it opens up a can of worms, like 38-40 actually being .41 calibre!

There is a ridiculous amount of unnecessary duplication on their online system. Just play the game, I have found they ring you if they don’t understand what you want or your application is self contradictory.....u:thumb:

I wouldn’t worry too much, when the FAO comes round they will go though with you and helpfully change anything for you :thumb:

I'm finding that when i want to apply for a variation or have a FAC query Lincolnshire are very difficult to deal with.
I used to be able to pop in at Nettleham HQ and ask to speak to someone from firearms and they would come down and have a f2f chat and all was sorted.
Now they won't see you there in person, you have to go online  and trawl through all the "drop downs£ which are so confusing.

Whatever happened to the personal touch, did it get too expensive in terms of man hours?
Anyway, we get there in the end but it could be so much easier.

It seems to be a growing trend that as FAC holders it is becoming more & more difficult to get the appropriate information and help with any enquiries due to the usual cutbacks etc. but when you are dealing with mostly G4S staff that have very little knowledge of firearms legislation and will be working for minimum wage and expected to meet deadliines, should we really be all that surprised?
