1. The Forum Rules have undergone some minor changes and updates.  Please take the time to read them; it will only take a couple of minutes of your time. By doing so, you lessen the chance of incurring the wrath of the moderation team or making yourself look foolish to other members.

90% of users posting adverts in the Sales forums need to be reminded to read the rules as their posts are wrong.  This is unnecessarily time-consuming and will no longer happen - if your advert doesn't follow the Sales Rules it will be deleted and you'll have to start all over again.

  3. Dear members,

Our membership (like our country) consists of people from all walks of life; different in far more ways than can be listed here and each with a different view based on their experience of life - regardless of their colour, religion or cultural heritage. Every single person in the UK has been born of mixed race – we are a multi-coloured and multi-cultural country.

As many of you are aware there are a handful of individuals amongst this membership that persist in making provocative, inflammatory, racist and otherwise offensive comments. This has been happening across the forum to a certain degree but is most especially prevalent in the Adult section.

The moderation team has tried to stay on top of this, however unfortunately because of the ‘offensive’ nature of much of its content we don’t monitor the Adult section quite as much as perhaps we should. As a result much of this behaviour has gone unnoticed unless it has been reported to us. While the team always intended to take a "light touch" approach to the Adult section it would seem that some people aren’t quite adult enough to be left unmonitored after all.

This behaviour is, and always has been against Forum Rules as well as the specific stipulations of the Adults forum and it will no longer be tolerated. We feel it's time to draw a line in the sand and as such from this point onward offenders will receive an immediate and permanent ban from the forum.

In order for us to achieve our goal of restoring the forum to the friendly and tolerant place it once was, we ask that ALL members be mindful of the content they post and help us to stop unacceptable behaviour by using the 'Report' tool at the bottom of any offending post - the results of which can be seen only by Admin/Moderators.

Just picked this little beaut up.there's no marks on the action and only the slightest on the stock.when i picked it up i put it over the chrono and it was low(9ftlb)put the pump on now a nice 11.5 with .22 falcons with a variation of 5fps over 10 shots not bad for a 27 year old rifle.i've only tried it at 15 yards and after 10 shots the hole was slightly bigger than the pellet so the accuracy is not bad at all. the stock was a bit dry so i gave it a good covering of balistol and it sucked it in a treat couple of more coats and it'll be bob on.

There, you see, now I'm confused !

I got given a "Theoben Scirocco" a couple of weeks ago but it was slightly different to my mates "Scirocco Classic" in that it has a "slightly longer barrel" and a "thumbhole stock with adjustable butt pad" so a few suggested it might be a "Scirocco GP" now I see your photos and see that yours has a longer barrel aswell ?????

Any ideas as to what's going on, did Theoben mix and match or just use what they had available at the time ?

    Cheers in advance buddy !...

Put a picture up mate. The gp had the same length barrel as the classic, the only difference was the gp had a shorter stroke and the Olympic trigger and it was horrible to shoot in .177.i had my first classic converted in late 80's wish I never had it touched

Was it the Olympus that came with a T/H stock as standard ?

    I forget now.

Maybe Accuspell is right - maybe I do have too many birthdays behind me...

Not my bag tbh, but certainly looks like an honest, well-cared for example. Can't deny that it's a very nice looking rifle too :)

Very nice rifle, I have an earlier one than this with Anschutz barrel and Anschutz open sights, but of all things a BSA Meteor trigger!

It's still a nice gun to shoot though.

Yes the thumbhole standard rammers were.

    SLR88 imperator (unlerlever)
    Grandprix
    Olympus
    Evo thumbhole
    SLR98 thumbhole (underlever)

Grandprix was the early sirocco action with long barrel
Olympus was like a taunus with a thumbhole
Evo is just the evo action with dovetails instead of fixed mounts, choice if barrel length.
SLR88/98 was the famous underlever with a thumbhole.

I also Remember Theoben offering the Olympus carbine for a very short period, basically a thumbhole stocked Fenman, and inmo would make the best little .22 of the lot, (never seen one for sale anyway) the owners must not want to part with them.

By the way OP Nice rifle, I had one from around that era a grandpix in .22 once the power was set at 11 it was smooth and accurate.

The Grand Prix was a thumbhole, but the stock was very blocky, to make it stock heavy. That s what the golf course lad has been given - some people confused themselves by calling it a Scirocco Grand Prix.

SLR came with a choice of sporter (mine) or thumbhole (not keen on thumbhole stocks, despite my tiny hands)

Olympus was quite a bit later and HE period.

Yes, basically Theoben did mix and match! They were only a small company and would produce special one offs on request - like my Taunus without the thumbhole, I wanted the Heydua ambidextrous stock instead, so that is what I got.

Just an update chaps as I went to see my mate with the "Scirocco Classic" today, you remember, the one with the shorter 10" barrel, well it turns out that the shorter barrel was an optional extra upgrade along with the "HE" internals when his dad first bought the rifle back in the early 90's !

Apparently when he first got the rifle it annihilated the piston seal so was sent back to "Theoben" under warranty at which point they had just finished developing the "HE" piston so they contacted him about fitting the upgraded internals into his rifle as a matter of course and he's never had any trouble with it since !

So I've come to the conclusion that there's nothing odd about my rifle, just his cos it's seems like a cross between a Scirocco a Fenman and a Theoben HE although I think the Fenman had an even shorter barrel didn't it ?...

This just gets better as I've just seen a post on here showing an "HW90tb" which looks very similar to my mates rifle but his is "Theoben" wtf is goin on ?...:D
