I don't kill animals (it is prohibited in our country to use airgun for hunting) so only target shooting = .177

Converted to .177 good all round calibur, ideally suited for HFT but you need to consider what quarry to go for if shooting .177. I believe its a highly debated subject as to which caliber is best for dispatching quarry but we all have are preferences

What size pellets you need totally depends on what size gun you have. .22 pellets are too tight in a .177 gun and .177 pellets fall straight through a .22 gun....hope this helps !!!

Follow that one with your calibre arguments !!!! LOL

    .22 for me!

ive just had more success (sp) with .22 and more experience!

plus i found .177 too fiddley, and the 1st .177 pistol i had was bloody awful!!!

.22 is best for me as i am usually at close range (below 35yds) i use it for everything and kills all my quarry verry few runners.

both have their good and bad points but .22 is better to me

    Argh!

I'm fed up with seeing these threads ... whether this one was started recently or someone revived it, why can't people understand that there is no 'better' calibre; it's down to the gun, what you want to use it for, etc.

Andy, I'm closing this thread as having another calibre debate on this forum would be ridiculous. You can re-open it if you wish, but for now it's closed

Mabo, do your own research. Try using both .177 and .22 - you'll find what's best for you and your needs.
