I think its tough for anyone to give an opinion on a rifle for somebody that we don't know the age of the person and what they will be using it for. I think theirs valid arguments for and against so if its left at that he can chose himself. I wasn't trying to stop the guy from buying yours by the way.

As mentioned in my pm, ive got a bsa lightning carbine here that you can have for £150 as it wouldnt need posting to you, and i will service it for you for free (excluding parts) for the whole time you own it. Cant say fairer than that!

The bsa lightning would be a good rifle for a younger shooter, they are light & not all that hard to cock... i sold one to a friend of mine who is quite small in stature and for him it was perfect. alot of 2nd hand ones come up for sale on here for around £100-£200 generally. Also i think an smk xs19 could be a good cheap first rifle... can pick those up new for good prices as well.

Not a bad choice the Lightning I'm sure he will have a lot of fun using that. Can recommend the AAS200 a lot. Shot count isn't the best but accuracy is superb. Factor in the filling equipment though and it gets a little pricey.

Hi Eugene - glad you both like it!

My personal view is it is a lovely little gun, well balanced and comes up to the shoulder nicely, well made but not heavy.

It's a shame I was a bit pushed for time and the weather was grotty but if you decide you want to try other types of rifle out in the future then let me know.

I used to have a HW77k like you mentioned which had been tuned - it was superb but a little heavy. I now have a HW97k which is very similar and when I can sort it out I will get it tuned which will be even better. The extra weight helps control the recoil a bit, if you go for a precharged rifle then they are easier to shoot. I have handled the AAS200 and found the stock felt a little small to me, I preferred the AA S400 which is a little more money but has a much nicer stock (I think) and more shot capacity. I did recently handle a BSA Ultra which despite being small I thought was a better fit for me than the S200 - horses for courses as they say.

I have the .177 S400 for hunting as it is accurate and reliable, it is really all I need but spring rifles are somehow more fun for somethings.

Hope you enjoy many happy hours plinking together with the Beesa.

A little out of my budget, but a local guy has offered a AA s410 ten shot, scope, slip and NS, for £350, thought that to be a very good price, my locals got a TX200 for £250 and willing to take an offer, going to try that and see how that goes, weather cleared up so off to do some plinking with the kids, thanks E
