As above Jap cars. I had a 1990 micra. One previous owner (a 80 year old woman) nd was bomb proof. Had to replace the exhause system for it, from manifold to silencer, cost me £8 and fit it my self!

Stay away from french. Mate bought a 206 with 12 months m o t, head gasket went 6 weeks later. Their electronics are pants too.

Disagree no way in this world would I be seen dead in a Micra!!!! Renault Clio I've had two top cars espcially mk1's. Jap cars can't comment on normal jap cars only supras evo. But if you look at small cars in Europe Clio outsells any English or jap car also fiat punto aswell. I can confirm had two clios no probs 1.4rt I own a Punto sportsgear and a Volvo s60 2.5 my wife drives 3 series BMW. If you have money get a golf if not Clio or Punto.

Get a 1.1 Clio as 1.4 will be higher on insurance same as punto sportsgear classed as a sports car. Don't buy a Micra unless your happy to lose any streetcred!!! You will get old people beeping horn at you waving false teeth!!

TBH the cost of the insurance will more than likely dictate what car you end up with, being as it'll be your first

If it's of any help, Ford parts are cheap and readily available, which is something worth considering when buying a used car.

I've just searched for my girlfriends first insurance and she settled with a Clio, I drive a Clio as well and it's a good cheap car to insure and you get some good bang for buck. Clios are cheap to insure relatively. Corsas are expensive for what you get because boy racers want them. I think a fiesta was similar on insurance and as mentioned ford parts are cheap. I'd go clio or fiesta on your budget. Ive just turned 21 and my fourth year insurance was £800. You will prob pay about £1900 for your first year insure in your name and put as many close family as you can with good rep on your policy. Don't get your parents to insure and then put your name on it it won't be valid if they already have a policy themselves.
