I certainly agree with his advice on line of sight and not bending your neck to view through the scope Alot of what he is refering to in the video on stance is for centrefire rifles with live ammo & big recoil...so a bit irrelevant... In regard of grip for spring powered air rifles then you want your grip to be only firm enough to hold the rifle steady.. I think of my grip as more of a support. When the rifle fires the recoil should not be resisted with a hard grip.. allow the rifle to naturally recoil, this makes a noticeable difference to accuracy. Youtube video on 'artillery hold' describes the mechanics behind it.

Thanks Theoben, trying to get better groupings when standing and just wanted to make sure I'm getting the basics right before I start getting frustrated with myself.

Breathing - I didn't hear him say a thing about breathing control, but I wasn't listening intently.

Trigger control and squeeze is another - pulling the finger pulls the rifle to one side - tighten your grip of the entire hand, like gripping someone's hand to shake it, ensures the trigger squeeze is straight an dnot off to one side.

When he showed the head on view of the offhand stance, his forward arm was off at an angle, not under the stock, something he said was important (and it is) but then didn't follow through with his own stance.

See if you can find any footage of METALLIC SILHOUETTE shooting - those guys will show you how to shoot a rifle stood, offhand. Closest target is 200m (chickens) then turkies at 300m, goats at 400m and deer at 500m - stood, offhand, NO support whatsoever permitted, not even a sling.

Yes breathing and trigger control are also important.
I have never done a video for rifle shooting but if there is a demand i will.
Its the same principals as a pistol really.

Loose grip, steady breathing, gentle trigger pull and of course a bit of confidence lol

I hold my breath whilst pulling the trigger ... controlling breathing so that im comfortable holding my breath for at least 5 seconds. I never really thought about trigger untill joining this forum, I dont think i pull it to oneside just lightly squeeze straight back.

I always take up the first stage of the trigger pull and then just gently squeeze the trigger for the second part once the shot is fired just stay paused for a second for the follow through and check the placement.

I've got a lot to go on there guys thanks, I understood the trigger squeeze and steady breathing, tried a bit down the range (when not shaking in the cold ). Seemed alot better. Thanks guys,
Will definitely check out Metallic Silhouette, Accu, that sounds an amazing feat.
