    Specialist Scoped Air rifle racks.

Hi I have just started producing specialist scoped air rifle racks for wall mounting to keep those prized rifles off the floor and out of harms way!!!
These are quality racks handmade in solid wood designed with strength and durability to last a very long time, There are two models Toby rack one deigned with break barrels in mind but fit many pcp's as well such as Dyastate huntsman classic, Brockock concept super 6 and falcon for example.
Toby rack two designed for the shallower stocks usually on pcp's like Hw 100 but should fit rilfes like the TX200,AA 410/400, HW77 for example.
A third model to fit the last 20% of rifles is in development such as Bsa R10, Daystate Air ranger /Air wolf etc.
Please call to discuss which Toby rack to buy if uncertain.
    Contact Toby 9am to 5pm mon-sat on 07929370262 or 0208-830-0257 and email mrbiggles@ talktalk.net
    mrbiggles@talktalk.net
    Prices are £54.95 plus £12 p&p or £15 p&p 1st class recorded.
    This is my introductory offer.
Racks supplied as in pic's au natural for your use or finishing staining etc to your own requirements to match your stocks say or decor.
Many thanks for reading my advert, I hope to speak with you soon.
One of the great features of my racks is they are modular that is stackable with the locating dowels supplied so if you want to display 2 or 3 rifles or more that is coped with in the the design, you can even omit the shelf unit other than the base unit shelf if so desired for that cleaner look!!!

How will these comply with the new laws? Would padlocking them suffice?

Could there be a hinge/clear peice of plastic latch made for them so it in effect locks the rifle in place with a padlock?

Could comply with new rules and be a perk to sale.

Still wouldn't stop them being moved Taffy.

Idea something like, a 1 inch sanded hole for the barrel to go through on one end, with a rest on the other end that can be latched over to secure the rifle as the trigger guard would be on one side and the stock on the other, making it near impossible to get out just by moving it by hand. Should satify the new regs.

Toby racks and the new laws.

Hi all thanks for your responses, I note all regarding the new laws circa 2011 which I was aware of as designing my Toby Racks but just to brush up,I have underlined the relavant parts to my racks.
    Air Rifles
The most important rule of gun handling……
NEVER POINT ANY RIFLE, LOADED OR UNLOADED, IN AN UNSAFE DIRECTION.
It is estimated that there are four million air rifles in the UK,
    The Law
The law makes no distinction between air rifles and more powerful guns for which you need a licence – they are all classed as firearms. This means that any offence you commit can carry a very heavy penalty – and there are at least 38 different offences. Following this code will help you to keep on the right side of the law, but, if you have any doubt, seek advice from BASC (www.basc.org.uk) or your local police firearms licensing department.
    Air gun security
From February 2011, the Crime and Security Act 2010 makes it an offence for a person in possession of an air gun to fail to take "reasonable precautions" to prevent someone under the age of 18 from gaining unauthorised access to it.
The legal advice contained within this publication remains unchanged e.g. 14-17 year olds may still use air guns unsupervised on private premises where they have permission etc.
For further advice about reasonable precautions for storing for air guns not in use please contact BASC or see www.basc.org.uk for a copy of our fact sheet Young People and Airguns.
    Who can shoot
    18 years
If you are 18 years or older there are no restrictions on buying an air rifle and ammunition, and you can use it wherever you have permission to shoot.
    14 – 17 years
    You can
borrow an air rifle and ammunition
use an air rifle, without supervision, on private premises where you have permission
    You cannot
buy or hire an air rifle, or ammunition, or receive one as a gift. Your air rifle and ammunition must be bought and looked after by someone over 18 – normally your parent, guardian or some other responsible adult.
have an air rifle in a public place unless you are supervised by somebody aged 21 or over, and you have a reasonable excuse to do so (for example, while on the way to a shooting ground).
    Under 14 years
    You can
use an air rifle under supervision on private premises with permission from the occupier - normally the owner or tenant. The person who supervises you must be at least 21 years old.
    You cannot
buy, hire or receive an air rifle or its ammunition as a gift, or shoot, without adult supervision.
Parents or guardians who buy an air rifle for use by someone under 14 must exercise control over it at all times, even in the home or garden.
It is illegal to sell an air rifle or ammunition to a person under 18 years of age.

I thoroughly support the new law and gun safety generally, for example I store my ammunition seperately in a security box fitted to the wall but then I have no children to worry about.
I intend to launch an internet site for my Toby racks in the near future in which I plan to recommend the use of trigger locks, security boxes or small safes to secure ammunition seperately as some older children might just be resourcefull enough to use a pry bar or screwdriver to access ammunition.
There was an instance in my neck of the woods(london) where a man was shot dead at close range with his legally held pcp sub 12ftlb rifle as he had left ammunition with the rifle in the livimg room, the pellet penetrated his heart the poor man died instantly.
This instance brought home to me the lethality of our air rifles and I have laways stored ammunition seperately and securely since, please give some thought how you currently store your gun/guns and ammunition!
I would be happy to offer gun security such as trigger locks and security boxes even small safes if that is requested as I plan to recommend these measures in my internet site soon and think it would give us all peace of mind and keep us all on the right side of the law (£1000 pound fine etc) plus the consequences of an over excited unsupervised youth with a potentialy lethal weapon does not bear thinking about and could way heavy on the conscience.
Thanks for your feedback much appreciated.
I will read responses with interest I hope I have put your legal/safety worries to rest?
    Toby.

Hi I think a trigger gaurd and maybe some secure seperate storage for ammunition will suffice.
    Thanks for your response,
    Toby.
P.S. please read my longwinded response a bit down the page.

I was told that in fitting a trigger lock you merely made the gun unusable and doesn't stop a minor gaining access to it? Is there no way of fixing some sort of metal bracketry where you can fit a simple 1/4 turn keyed camlock or other cheapish lock?

I reckon you should try the de-ac sites as well, these would be a good seller there.
