Just returned from the HFT Range with the following conundrum:
According to the Chairgun Pro software, if my scope is zeroed at 35 yards there should be approximately four inches of hold-over at 50 yards. On the zero range today, I was grouping very consistently zeroed in at 35 yards and then same again at 40yards with approximately 1/4" holdover. When I came to the 50 yard target I still needed only a very small amout of hold-over (maybe 1") with groupings within 1" of the target.
Any thoughts?

Hi Lydford,
I ran a couple of differing figures through Chairgun and got differing answers..............well you would wouldn't you?
I found that the higher the scope is mounted and the higher the velocity of the pellet, the less drop you get.
You did not tell us how high your scope is, or what fps you are pushing the H&N pellets out at.
Plus there are all the other variables:
Was there a following wind?
Were you firing down hill?
Sorry if this seems like the Spanish inquisition, but I've found that the 'computer models' generated by programs such as this do not translate directly when you get them out into real rather than hypothetical situations.
Remember, the bumble bee is not aerodynamically capable of flight!

Nice one Richard!
My scope is mounted 1.75" above the centre of the barrel. As for fps, I have to say I have not chronographed the gun as yet so I am guessing it will be around 586 (based on 11.3 ft lb?). I was shooting ever so slightly uphill - sitting position - almost level. Not aware of any following wind as we were in a sheltered area.
Fascinating stuff. Thanks for your reply ...
Regards
Martin

The rule of thumb for CG is you get the right data in and you get the right data out. How did you measure your scope height? I use the following rule.
Measure Barrel /2 Measure Optics lense /2 measure gap between scope and rail and add them all up and /2.5
Mines 1.520 on mediums. Also without chrono no good with out proper vital stats![]()

Guessing the fps is not going to give accurate results.
All the suggestions on this thread are valid, as without accurate readings Chairgun cannot work. If the data you have entered previously is correct and there is no external force moving the pellet, then alarm bells should ring as the size of the error suggests that your shooting hot! Get a chrono string and check all your Chairgun entries.

Thanks. I will find a chrono asap ...
is there any way on chairgun that you can set a different range for each calibre tab?
you used to be able to do this, which is something I would like to be able to do as I have a rifle in 177 and another in 22 and I shoot at different ranges with each.
I had the 177 tab set at 70 yards and the 22 set at 30 yards, now when I change the range on the 177 tab, the range is changed to the same distance on the 22 tab and on all the other tabs. does anyone know how to change this setting?
