    Hello:

    In answer to your question

"Why cant you buy a designated NV scope that doesnt need more money spending on it to make it work properly"

Pulsar built in Laser IR illuminators have been built to a specification that complies with the more stringent eye safety rules of the US market, so therefore built to that spec not to a spec which would comply only with EU regulations, so with filters and laser types for the US market, they are restrictive in terms of power over what is commercially available in the UK such as Night Master NM800IR's for example.

Hence why there is an accessory rail on the side, and bearing in mind it is essentially 250 less than a Nite Site NS200 offering similar performance, its quite a bargain in terms of vs Performance.

The built in IR laser illuminator on the Photon has manufacturer spec of a man sized detection range in ideal conditions of up to 190m.

Realistically this gives you about 100m vermin detection range in "real world conditions" however with an add on IR such as the NM800 this is very much increased.

    Next question:

"I would like to know Scotts what the effective shooting range is with the built in IR ????"

Effectively 90-100m with built in IR illuminator in real life conditions with built in IR, or upgrade to an NM800 to boost performance.

Full manufacturer specs can be found here

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

    Paul

I believe Pulsar are coming out with a new IR which will be on par and smaller and cheaper than the rip off nightmaster

You mean regular mainstream TV? That seems a bit brave.
