My gun's are tool's not weapons
I have had a similar argument with regards to fishing in the past, although not with killing, just with the problem of supposedly putting fish through strain and pain during the catch.
I enjoy the hunt, the catch and the fight and have had some whoppers in the past, i always put the fish back, if there are any marks or sores they get treated, i take the utmost care when i can, but some of the "Anti's" will still say that this is not good enough. Plus most of my catches are a result of decent field craft and in the past i have sat an entire season for one bloody fish! (got it in the end!)
Anglers and all types of outdoorsmen also tend to be the only people that look after most of our countryside, certainly more than the agencies that we actually PAY to do the job.
On the other hand at my lake we currently have a Pike problem where they are killing all of the young carp and silver fish, therefore we are thinking about putting a catch and kill policy for fish under 3lb, unfortuatly i dont eat fish so some of these will just be used as bait for bigger fish or binned, i dont like it but its sometimes nessisary!
Bit off topic but i think there are enough similarities to make it valid.
Had two brace of mallard duck given me today, from Wednesday's game shoot yum yum![]()

I was about to say the same? When i used to fish, after i caught my 3 mackerel (in about 10 mins where i live) for tea the rest i would throw back. I've not actually been hunting yet with my rifle, but if i get a rabbit or two, i still would want to carry on, but what do i do? I would probably offer to people i know, after skinned and gutted, but there is only so much rabbit meat you can give away... Would it be morally wrong to shoot to kill and bury it(or dispose of some way else)?
Unfortunately you cant just throw the rabbit back into the field and watch it hop off? :s
