I've eaten them for as long as I can remember, as did my father and grandfather before me. Also introduced a fair few customers to them during my years in the butchery trade too. Apparently they were very popular with us country folk until soon after WWII and are still considered to be a delicacy in France and other parts of Europe to this day.
