    tuff rabbit

    Im new to hunting but i do enjoy it! i got my self a few so i had a rabbit pie last night but found the rabbit a little tuff! is there a good way to sofen or tenderize the meet?

    leave it in salt water for 1-2 days, and/or cook it very slowly

    Aye you need to cook it properly thats the main thing. 2.5 hours in boiling water, with sage and tarrogan.
    The meat will literally fall right off the bone. and will have a good starting taste to it.

    it helps if the rabbit is tender to start with, older ones are tough and even if slow cooked can be stringy and chewy, i only shoot the adolescent bunnies for the pot as they are very tender and far tastier.

    Totally agree with this. The old ones aren't worth bothering with, I've tried all ways of cooking them.

    Better than boiling rabbit for hours is to put them on a trivet, or even an upturned plate, in a high sided baking tray. Add a little water to the tray and roast in the oven for an hour or two (depending on age of rabbit). This way you can season them before cooking with some salt, pepper, herbs and even some spices. Don't forget to keep topping the water up as it dries up.
    After that you can strip the meat from the bones and make a nice quick curry, my favourite so far is a Thai green curry, all you need is a jar of paste and some coconut milk, absolutely delicious

    i was thinking about getting a slow cooker. dose any 1 use them for there rabbit?

    Yep that's my way of a tender bunny, any caserol type mix will turn out spot on.
    Mine is on all day so eight hours or there about, let us know how you do ..................

    Thats impressive. Slow cooking is something I should get in to I think.
