Exclamation Using Paypal As Gift Service

When you pay someone via Paypal as gift, you have no protection. Paypal as gift means no goods should be exchanged, and as such, Paypal will not help you should anything go wrong, paypal gifts are completely non-refundable under any circumstance.
Sellers asking for Paypal as gift, you are also just as vulnerable as anyone paying you can issue a charge back if they send the funds via debit card, even after you have sent the goods they can still issue a charge back.
If you buy an airgun and pay via paypal you can not involve Paypal in any dispute as an airgun is a 'restricted' item in their eyes.
So be aware using Paypal as gift offers no protection for the buyer or seller!

Good point if you are worried about charges add 4% to your original sale price and offer 4% discount for cash or postal order whatever.

The result is the same but "paypal by gift" means I don't even look it means you are encouraging fraud!

I use 'Paypal' at my risk for small amounts trusting the seller/buyer to fulfil the deal.
To date I have encountered no problems.
For larger amounts, bank Transfer is my preferred method of payment
I’ve just found what I was looking for, it was where I left it …

Bank Transfer offers you no protection at all the only information that needs to be correct is sort code and account number and could be hijacked account or one opened using false details!

Andy as you say "If you buy an airgun and pay via paypal you can not involve Paypal in any dispute as an airgun is a 'restricted' item in their eyes." would it matter if you paid the 4% or not personally if it is reasonable amount i just add the 4% so i stand the charges but thought i would have some protection if the deal went bad

Makes no difference, if you pay for guns using paypal you have no protection. Anything else is OK, Paypal will use any excuse they can to close your account a keep your money.
