Dont mean to spoil anyones fun BUT I have been a member here for a while and just submitted a "for sale add", requesting ISP Email and/or Address, all well and done but as I doubt that verified then seems pointless and another problem, from a WebDev point of view, Would I be happy providing my address on a Vbulletin system, unsure on that one.
Nice idea to try and help cover buyers from scummers but still...

It's an address, not your bank details that are already stored on the net via ebay/paypal. Would you be allowed to sell on ebay without giving any details. ? The bigger the site the more hack attempts are made. Nothing is safe on the internet from top hackers. White house, NASA, ect have all been hacked, and one other airgun forum has been hacked several times and addresses published on the net. No one is forcing you to provide these details, but you have no seller history here and are using a free email service.

Or you could just change your email address to your isp email, verify it, then change it back to whatever you wanted. We would then have an traceable email, several other forums insist you use a isp email to register.

Is there anyway around this Andy? Tried to list a item and declined.

I trust the admin with my address but I also know how easy these forums are hacked. All it takes is a crafty thief to hack addresses to steal peoples air rifles. Obviously some of us have expensive rifles that would appeal to thiefs.

I don't really feel safe having my address on file for that reason only

    Yes,

You can use your ISP provided e-mail address
There are evil men in this world and they are capable of evil deeds. The moment you forget that or pretend it is not so, you become a sheep. There is no safety in denial.

I am not an Admin/Mod - I can not help with your forum/sales/sexual health problems

Your using a Hotmail one at the moment, if you contact your ISP, they will be able to advise you what it is and how to retive your mail accordingly

Yup but this is a fairly recent one. The ISP one would be years ago. I'm not going to bother faffing about I'll just have to sell items elsewhere. (that isn't meant to sound arsy!)

Leo, if you ever give anyone your address via pm when doing a deal then it's on file in the database.
The sever runs a good firewall and security, it is monitored 24/7 Admins require 2 user names and 2 passwords to access user accounts. So even if anyone got to know an admin user details they still need to know the additional user name and password that is not stored within the vbulletin software. Anyone you deal with by way of paypal can get your address from paypal. Your address can be obtained from your ip address by some members, it's also available to anyone with an subscription to 192.com.
I could even tell you your parents names and I don't know you from jack, If I can do that then just about anyone can get the same info. Andyhawk once rang me and I never gave him my number or address, I asked him how he got my number and he said it just came up in google after doing a search.

I suppose. Just seems a little extreme. Especially for already established sellers
