Just for everyone's info, if you are sending an air rifle, Royal Mail is the only way. They are the only legal carriers of firearams. If you send by another courier and something happens to the consignment, you will find you have no recourse to compensation. ROYAL MAIL is the only possible courier for the average user.
And remember, the safest route is via RMSD and the max length of the package is something like 665mm unless a tube is used, then its 900mm.

Large Paket
The maximum dimensions for rectangular items are 610mm x 460mm x 460mm.
Items over these dimensions should be sent by Standard Parcels. hth ....................................

Here is a fantastic easy to use website that will show you the cheapest way to post your rifle (or anything else!)
Just type in size, weight, & destination and hover the pointer over the different options and the cost will be revealed along with insurance cover included.
Normally you will find Royal mail parcelforce is not as competetive....sorry any posties on here!

I can completely understand why so many sellers want a face to face transaction with all this strife.
Unfortunately it takes me an hour just to get to the nearest motorway, so everywhere is a long haul for a f2f.
I wanted to see if a courier would collect from the seller for me, and as mentioned above, they will not pay out for a prohibited or restricted item if something went wrong.
So as a buyer I get a bit frustrated, seeing all those lovely rifles for sale with a f2f tag, and no way to persuade the seller to post by offering courier collection.
